TEN MONTHS OLD

August 30, 2002

Alex is officially walking. He now walks more than he crawls. He still cannot go from sitting to standing without pulling up on something, so once he falls he crawls until he can find something to pull up on. He is still busy trying to keep up with Daddy and Nick. He really gets upset when they are doing something that doesn't include him. He has also learned to clap his hands.
Alex spent much of the beginning of the month sick. He came down with a couple of viruses in a row. I thought we'd never be able to get food into him again, but it seems that now that he is feeling better he is finally eating. As a result of his food boycott, he measured in at only 16 pounds, 12 ounces at his 10 month checkup. That is down to the 5th percentile. He was 28 inches tall.
We shouldn't have any difficulty switching him off of formula and the bottle when he turns one year. He is constantly going after Nick's milk and if we don't catch him right away he will chug it down like it's the best thing in the world. We have to keep reminding Nick to keep his milk up out of Alex's reach when he's not drinking it.
His favorite toy lately is the bat... any bat. It is particularly appropriate that we took this month's picture with the bat.
We are still hit and miss with the sleeping. Some nights are very good and some nights we're up several times. It seems that he always wakes up just as I'm starting to doze off. It doesn't matter if I go to bed at the same time he does or stay up later, he always seems to know right as I'm falling asleep. I must snore or something. He will now go back to sleep by putting my hand on his back, but it still requires me getting out of bed. But things are getting better.
