Why
have I created this site?
The introduction
of the Internet into the EFL (English as a Foreign Language) classroom has
brought about many changes in the way instructors approach foreign language
teaching. There are several possible reasons for using the Internet in
language teaching. One rationale is found in the belief that the linguistic
nature of online communication is desirable for promoting language learning.
Another possible reason for using the Internet is that it creates optimal
conditions for learning to write, for example it provides an authentic
audience for written communication. A third possible reason is that it can
increase students' motivation. Finally, there is the belief that learning
computer skills is essential to students' future success; this reason
suggests that it is not only important to use the Internet to learn English,
but also to learn English to be able to function well on the Internet.
Who is
this site for?
This site is primarily
intended for students attending my classes where they can have direct access
to information regarding the subjects taught from a broad range of sources
on the net. This information includes course objectives, course outlines,
course content, suggested reading, procedure of assessment, and useful links
to relevant subjects. Having said that, I would highly recommend this site
to every student attending my classes.
Furthermore, this site is also intended for those who want to learn Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia). A number of useful links to various sites which provide free online materials are now available. Simply click on the "learn Indonesian" button to visit these sites.
May you find this site both useful and informative. Happy browsing!
