Somalia was the where the war took place. It is located in East Africa; also it is surrounded by Ethiopia. Its capital is Mogadishu. Somalis independece from britain was given on June 26, 1960. During 1967, Mohammed Ibrahim Egal became Prime Minister of Somalia. Somalia didn’t really have the greatest history because the country didn’t really have a good prime minister. I think Somalia would have been a good country if our president would have done something to take control. Even though we tried to help Somalia the warlords didn’t want their help.
Somalia has a population of about 8,591,000. Somalia is also one of the most fastest growing countries in Africa and the world. Somalia is very poor due to its population and some other factors. It is very undeveloped country. I think the reason is because there are not many jobs and things to do. If Somalia had a factory then it would have a little money. Nothin has happened in Somalia yet to change this. Its just the fact that they have no rules. If they had police or a jail then, we could get all of the bad people who are effecting little childrens lives into jail.
In Somalia there are major effects on everyone due to diseases. They have no doctors to help them with this problem. Even if they did they wouldn’t be able to help all of these people. There are tones of diseases in Somalia such as HIV and AIDs. There are about 43,000 people living with HIV/AIDs today. There are also waterborne bacteria and diseases which may cause diarrhea, hepatites A and E and many more. There are lots and lots of people dying because of these diseases. I hope in the future that all of these diseases will stop spreading over Somalia because if this continues their will be no people left.
Somalia is a little country as I think of it. Even though there is so many people in it. It has no government which really ruins everybodys life. Without a government there are no rules, without rules everyone will do whatever the want which is bad. I think the US should do something to clean up the country. I know there is probably not much we can do but im sure if we try we could.
It comes up a lot in this book, the rangers and deltas are in somalia taking this war into their own hands. In the book the leader always thinks he is right, he doesn’t care if his people die. Somalia is a bad place to live in for children and everyone else. How would you feel if you were in Somalia? I know I would be mad at the leader for not listening to the US. I even wonder how they survive with barely any food. Also with all those diseases.
In my opinon Somalia isnt a bad country it just needs to be told the right direction. If Somalia had a government im sure it will be a little bit better to live. I think that In Black Hawk Down we did what we had to. We went over their to capture the leader and tell them to stop litening to them. We had no chose, what else could we have done to help Somalia. What I don’t understand is that we still have people like him today. We still have countrys like that today.
I am really intrested in this subject because I really think we can change Somali. One day people wont starve. They will have a place to live. Children will play in the streets. They will forget everything that happened such as Black Hawk Down. Hopefulley this will be a good country over time.
I relly hope that the leaders have learned their lesson. That they can’t mess with the US. Also I hope that they will listen and agree to have a government. This will probably fix most of the problems in Somalia. Make it a country to live in.
