When I read the story “Finders Keepers,” I really thought it was an interesting book because Mark Bowden used such details and descriptions to help create the visual image in your mind.  It was a pretty funny story and the characters in it had very different and strange personalities.  This story takes place in the 80’s and it is about an unemployed man named Joey Coyle who can’t really get his life together.  Joey is not a very good person because he drinks and does drugs.  In fact, he was on his way to another drug deal with his close friends when he sees a yellow tool box on the side of the road.  The driver, John informs Joey that he could use the tool box so they turn around and grab it.
Joey opens the newly found tool box and finds two bags full unmarked $100 bills that counts up to be about $1.2 million.  It all unfortunately goes downhill from there for Joey.  The rest of the book takes you through all of Joey’s life and how everyone is after the money.  Unfortunately, he did not just live a happy life and just spend all the money.  There were good things and bad things about finding the money, he gave some of it away but the police tracked him down and he was tried for grand larceny. Also I didn’t quite agree with some of the ideas that Joey came up with and the decisions he made.  Later on in the story we find out that he commits suicide because of all the problems and conflicts.
The book kept me very interested because it was serious and also humorous at the same time.  Another thing Mark Bowden did that I like was to pull the reader into the story, which also makes it a lot more interesting for me.  Everyone in the book is a liar and that just adds to the humor.  The alliances he
makes with his friends fail because of their envy for all the money he found.  I would have wanted book to be longer so I could keep reading because it was such an interesting book.  I also think that Mark Bowden is for sure a great writer. If I was to rate this book out of five, I would a strong five
