Summary of key topic of the
week.
If a person lives the unexamined life, then that person has pretty much blinded himself to the world. In order to really enjoy life I think that one must always wonder or examine his life. If a person does this then they might find out the answers to some questions. I know that it is impossible to find the answers to all the questions one might have, but if you at least try to examine your life you might find some answers. In the past I know that I have probably lived the unexamined life, because I never knew anything else. Now that I have the knowledge I think that I will start to look at certain things in my life a little more closely.
List of ideas I want to
remember from this week.
1.
One thing that I
want to remember from this week is the lesson that is learned from the story of
Daedalus and Icarus. To me I think that it is something that is very important
to remember because it could mean life or death. The lesson is that people need
to remember things that are important to their safety and not be caught up in
all the fun of something.
2.
I also want to
remember Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. To me it is a good explanation of human
nature. We are really ignorant to the world around us most of the time, and
this story to me is a very good thing to remember. I hope that in the future I can take this story to heart and try to get out of my own cave. Now that I know that I am in one, I must try my best to get out of it.
3.
The last thing
that I want to remember is the story of the Blind Man and the Elephant. I think
that this is a really good story because it makes you think about how one sided
you can really be. The story is a true example of how we tend to only see one
side of the story, and that we really need to know and understand both before
we say something.
Question to Ponder.
Do I tend to be one sided, and not look for both sides of a
situation?
How can I improve myself.
A way that I can improve myself is to find the other side
of a situation. This way to improve myself is also the answer to my question to ponder. I think that if I do this I can become a better person in both personality and in faith because, if I do then I will not be so one-sided. I would know all the facts before hand so I would get a better and more percise look at something.
