BACKGROUND
Valerie Quinn was born to be a doctor, or so her friends and family have claimed time and time again. Relentless in her pursuit of the facts behind life she went out of her way to uncover the mysteries of living things. As a child this fascination materialised as an obsession with treating injured or ill animals and quickly escalated into emergency medicine courses and extensive independent research as she grew older. Her parents, seeing that she had her heart set on doing something in the medical field, suggested that she become a xenobiologist, the best of all worlds as far as they were concerned, but Valerie chose to rein in her curiosity to the area of humanoid medicine. She was admitted to one of Mars’ best medical colleges and graduated several years later top of her class
STARFLEET
After graduating from medical school Valerie was given her choice of the Sol System’s best hospitals and private clinics, but she instead chose to venture out into the galaxy as a Starfleet officer. She enrolled in Starfleet Academy as a medic but had her course accelerated due to her expertise. She became an ensign at the age of 24 and immediately entered service as a junior assistant at Starfleet Medical. Using this as a basis for her career, she soon left Earth behind aboard the USS Wyvern, a Nebula Class starship. Serving as that vessel’s Assistant Chief Medical Officer she gained valuable experience, but soon learned that she had little love for travelling around the galaxy and meeting new life forms without the having the necessary time to examine them. So, when an opening appeared aboard Starbase 565 in late 2375 she took it and has been there ever since.
