What Makes a Man

Shane: I’m sorry … Forgive me … Please … Jillian you don’t have to leave … Let’s try to talk it over!

Jillian: Shane we’ve tried that already … Maybe this is the best thing

Jillian zips closed her overnight bag and puts on her coat.

Shane: Don’t leave me please! … Why can’t we talk about this

Jillian: Shane you were kissing another girl … I saw you two … I can’t get that picture out of my mind and I can’t look at you the same way right now I have to leave.

Shane: She kissed me … I didn’t even kiss her back … It meant nothing!

Jillian picks up her bag and heads for the door crying as Shane follows and calling after her.

Shane: This isn’t goodbye … Even as I watch you leave this isn’t goodbye!

Jillian keeps walking towards the front door but stops when she looks over and sees a picture of her and Shane on the table beside the couch. She stands still for a few minutes talking to herself.

Jillian: I swear I won’t cry … Even as tears fill my eyes I swear I won’t cry.

Jillian composes herself and again starts to walk towards the front door.

Shane: No … You’re not leaving!

Jillian stops again and Shane uses this chance to run forward and grabs Jillian’s arm causing her bag to fall to the ground.

Shane: If you were any other girl I’d let you walk away … If you were any other girl I’m sure I’d be okay … But you’re not any other girl you’re the girl that I love and I won’t give you up without a fight.

Shane turns Jillian in his arms so that she is facing him. Jillian doesn’t fight him because she is too busy trying to fight back the tears. Shane reaches out and tilts Jillian’s chin up so that he can look in her eyes. He leans down and kisses her beginning at her cheek and then trailing kisses until he reaches her mouth. Jillian gets caught up in the moment and begins to cry as she kisses Shane back. After a few minutes Jillian pulls away from Shane’s kisses.

Jillian: Shane I can’t do this anymore

Shane: Tell me what makes a man wanna give you all his heart … Smile when you’re around and cry when you’re apart … If you know what makes a man wanna love you the way I do … Girl you gotta let me know so I can get over you

Shane moves in to kiss Jillian again but she moves out of his arms.

Jillian: I just can’t … I’ll be by tomorrow to pick up the rest of my things.

Then Jillian reaches down and picks up her bag and leaves the apartment.

Jillian and Andrea are sitting on the living room couch.

Andrea: So you saw him kissing another girl?

Jillian: I really don’t want to talk about it right now ... I just can’t get the picture of the two of them out of my mind

Andrea: I know how we can fix that ... Let’s go and put our pjs on get all the junk food that I have here and watch a movie ... What do you say?

Jillian: Sounds like a plan to me!

The two girls jump off of the couch and go to Andrea’s room where Jillian had thrown her bag when she got to Andrea’s house. They put their pjs on and Andrea grabs her bunny rabbit. Jillian goes in her bag to get her favorite monkey but is shocked to find that he is not in her bag.

Jillian: Andrea have you seen my monkey?

Andrea: Nope, he’s not in you’re bag?

Jillian: I guess that I left him at Shane’s!

Andrea: Do you want me to call and get him?

Jillian: No ... Thanks anyway though ... It’s only one night ... I’ll call and get him tomorrow ... Let’s go and watch the movie!

Andrea and Jillian go back into the living room and begin to watch “Final Destination”. Jillian started to laugh because Andrea made her watch Sean William Scott over and over again.

TV: Carter you Dick!

Andrea: Aww! Rewind it Rewind it … That is the best part of the movie!

A little while after that Jillian forgot about Shane and enjoyed spending time with her friend.

The Next Day ~

Shane is sitting in the living room with Kian, Mark, Bryan, and Nicky when the phone rings. Shane runs across the room to get it but Nicky grabs it before he could answer it.

Nicky: Hello!

Jillian: Nicky! … It’s Jillian! … Is Shane there?

Nicky looks over at Shane who is now sitting on the couch with the portable phone in one hand and Jillian’s monkey in the other.

Shane: Is it Jillian? … Let me talk to her!

Nicky: Ya he’s here … Do ya want to talk to him?

Jillian: No it’s alright … Just let him know that I will be by tonight to get my monkey. I forgot him when I left last night

Nicky: Well were going out a little later do you want me to tell him not to go?

Jillian: No I still have my keys … Just tell him that I will use them to get in and then leave them in the mail box for him.

Nicky looks over at Shane again. He can tell that Shane is disappointed that Jillian has not asked for him yet.

Nicky: Ya okay Jill … I’ll let him know

Nicky says good bye and then hangs up the phone.

Shane: She didn’t want to talk to me … I don’t get it … She know how much I love her

Mark: She seen you with someone else … She probably thinks that you don’t love her.

Shane: That fan kissed me not the other way around … Why can’t she see that I love her.

Kian: What makes her so right? … There are plenty of girls in the world!

Bryan: Is it the sound of her laugh?

Nicky: That look in her eyes? … Why can’t you just leave her alone for a few days?

Shane walks over towards the marble fireplace and picks up a picture of Jillian and him on their first date off of the mantle.

Shane: When do you decide she is the dreams that you seek, that force in your life … How can I get her to forgive me? … What is she waiting for?

Shane places the picture back on the mantle and hugs the monkey in his hand then turns back towards his friends.

Kian: Maybe when you apologize no matter who was wrong

Mark: Would you get on you knees if that would bring her home?

Shane: I would do anything to bring her home.

Nicky: Well she said to tell you that she would be by tonight to get her monkey and that since we were going out she would use her keys to get in and then leave them in the mail box for you

Shane: Well I’m not going to let that happen … I’m not going out tonight! … I am going to stay here and wait for her and then make her forgive me and everything will be alright.

Later That Night ~

Shane is sitting in the dark when Jillian opens the door.

Shane: Hi!

Jillian: Shane you startled me!

Shane: I’m sorry

Jillian turns on the light and looks over at Shane sitting on the couch and notices that her monkey is in his hand.

Jillian: What are you doing with that? ... And what are you doing here? … Nicky told me that you were going out with him and the others.

Suddenly there was a knock on the front door. Shane puts the monkey down and begins to walk over towards the door and Jillian answers the door. Jillian opens the door and is surprised to see the girl from the other night that kissed Shane.

Girl: Hello my name is Kerri ... I’m looking for Shane!

Shane: Hey Kerri ... Thanks for coming!

Shane invites Kerri in and she walks into the apartment.

Jillian: I’m just here for my monkey ... I just get it and get out of your way!

Jillian begins to walk towards the couch to get her monkey when Shane reaches out and grabs her arm to stop her.

Shane: Actually can you stay for a minute ... I invited Kerri over because I knew that you would be here and I wanted you to hear what happened from her directly.

Jillian: Well how did you know what time I would be here at.

Shane lowers his head and whispers.

Shane: Andrea called me as soon as you left to tell me that you were coming!

Jillian felt a little betrayed by Andrea but could understand that she wanted them to try to work things out and not throw everything that they had away.

Shane: Can you stay?

Jillian: For a minute ... But I’m not promising anything!

The three of them make their way towards the couch and sit down.

Kerri: First of all I would like to apologize for all the problems that I have caused between the two of you ... I really didn’t know that it would turn out like this.

Jillian: Why don’t you just tell me why you kissed my boyfriend?

Kerri: Well you see ... It all started with a dare from my friends ... You see I was dared to kiss Shane or one of the other members ... I really didn’t mean for you to see it ... I don’t really know why I did it in the first place

Kerri reaches out and grabbed Jillian’s hand.

Kerri: I really am sorry for any problems that I have caused

Shane: Thank you for coming over and straightening this all out ... I really appreciate it ... I’ll show you out

Shane gets up and shows Kerri to the door and closes it behind him. Jillian stays on the couch thinking about everything that has just happened in the last few minutes. Shane walks back over to the couch and sits down beside Jillian. All he wanted to do was take her in his arms and tell her that he was sorry for ever causing this whole thing in the first place but he knew that she should be the one to make the first move.

Shane: I understand that you have just been through a lot in the last few minutes and you probably want to go back to Andrea’s and sort it all out but there is one more thing that I have to tell you

Jillian: What?

Shane: I want you to know that other girls will come along they always do...

Jillian: Shane ... If you’re trying to win me back I think that you’d better try a different way

Shane wraps his arms around Jillian’s shoulders and whispers in her ear.

Shane: As I was saying ... Other girls will come along they always do but what’s the point when all I ever want is you ... I love you

Jillian: I love you too! ... And I’m sorry for over reacting it’s just that seeing you with her and the kissing thing and...

Shane shuts Jillian up by kissing her and soon Jillian has forgotten everything that she was saying and was enjoying kissing Shane back. Shane was the one that pulled away from the kiss and looked at Jillian.

Shane: Sorry about that! ... What you were saying?

Jillian looks back at Shane and suddenly realizes that she has totally forgotten what she way saying before Shane started kissing her.

Jillian: I have totally forgotten

Shane: That’s okay it doesn’t really matter anyway ... Are you going back to Andrea’s or can I assume that you will be spending the night?

Jillian: What do you think?

Jillian leans over and kisses Shane again. Shane scoops Jillian up into his arms and carries her into the bedroom.
