“I had a feeling you didn’t pack, so I came over early to help you.” She said as she shut the door behind her and sat on Callie’s big daybed. “Thanks. I’m almost done.” She replied as she put a few more things in her duffel bag. “Can you go over to my closet and grab the blue-flowered t-shirt that Nikolas likes so much.”
I cannot believe you still like him. Here.” She said throwing the t-shirt to her.
Autumn and Callie had been friends since before they could remember. Their mothers had been best friends in high school. Callie had always been the more popular one between the two having long blond hair, sky blue eyes and a very thin body. She was kind and very friendly. Autumn on the other hand had curly red hair, dark brown eyes, and was thin too.
“Are you almost done packing, we still have to pick up A.J. at his house.” Autumn said.
“Yes. I just finished.” Callie replied as she zipped up her duffel bag and threw it over her shoulder.
As they were walking down the stairs and out the door, Callie told her mother that she would be back on Monday. She said goodbye and shut the door. As they got in the car, Callie thought about all the fun they were going to have this weekend. Little did she know about the terror that awaited her and the rest of them at the Point.

They stopped after driving for 2 hours just outside of Salt Lake City at the campsite and got out of the car. A.J. and Callie went and opened the trunk and started to take all the bags out. Autumn started to walk around the campsite.
“I thought everyone else was going to meet us here.” She said as she looked in one of the tents that was already set up. All of a sudden someone grabbed her from behind. Autumn let out a loud scream and struggled to get away from whoever was holding her. She turned and swung at the person. They ducked and started to laugh. Autumn then realized that it was Nikolas who had grabbed her and now was lying on the ground laughing at her.
“You should have seen your face when I grabbed you. You were scared out of your mind.” Nikolas said between laughing.
“You jerk. You almost scared me to death.” Autumn said as she playfully started to hit Nikolas in the shoulder.
“Will you two cut that out please. Autumn can you come over here and help get everything out of the trunk. We still have to set up all of our trailers and stuff before it gets too dark.” A.J. said as he took another bag out of the trunk and handed it to Callie.
“Fine. I will come and help, I guess.” Autumn gave Nikolas one more hit right in the stomach, then went over and started to help set up everything.

Callie looked around the big campfire at all of her friends. There was Julia who had long, silky dark hair that almost looked black and eyes that were violet. She was thin and had very long legs. She looked like she could be a model. Then there was Nikolas who had dark hair and dark eyes. He had a medium build. He had moved here when he was sixteen from Greece. Austin, who was Autumn’s twin brother, had strawberry blond hair and dark green eyes. He liked to work out a lot, so he had a muscular build. The last person she looked at was A.J. A.J. had brown hair and big, bright blue eyes. He was tall and had a medium build. Callie had been good friends with A.J. since the first day of fourth grade when they met. Callie had always thought A.J. was cute, but he had never shown any interest in Callie that way so she assumed that he did not want to go out with her. Plus part of her didn’t want to go out with him because she was afraid it would hurt their friendship.
“It’s getting late. I think I will go to bed.” Julia said as she started to get up.
“I’ll join you.” Nikolas said with a weird smile on his face. As he started to open the trailer door, he said “Don’t worry, I am just joking.” Then everyone decided to go to bed. The girls sleep in the trailer on the right and the guys on the left.
Before everyone fell asleep Autumn said “Good night everyone. Sweet dreams.”
**********
Callie woke up in the middle of the night to a loud crashing noise. She was having a bad dream. She could only remember parts of her dream. They kept flashing in her mind. Someone trying to drown Julia. Nikolas holding her with blood on his hands. A large waterfall. Nikolas and Julia tied up together. Suddenly Nikolas came into the girls’ trailer. He told them to come look outside quickly. All of the girls put on something warmer and stepped outside. Over by the dining tent was a large black bear. All of them jumped back into the trailer along with all of the guys.
“What should we do?” Autumn said.
“We cannot do anything except leave the bear alone. Maybe it will leave on it’s own.” A.J. said as he looked at his watch. It was five in the morning.
“Well I’m not going to wait for it to leave. I’ve got an idea.” Nikolas said. He opened the door and stepped out. He went over to the car and opened the trunk. In there was one of the coolers. Nikolas opened it and pulled out some sandwiches Julia and Callie had made earlier that day. He unwrapped them and walked closer to where the bear was standing.
“Hey bear. Look what I’ve got for you.” Nikolas said, waving the sandwiches around in the air. The bear turned around and looked at the sandwiches in Nikolas’s hand.
“That’s it. Come and get them.” He said as the bear moved a little closer to him.
“Nikolas be careful. You’re going to get yourself killed by that bear.” Callie yelled out.
“Huh.” Nikolas said as he turned his head to figure out what Callie had said.
All of a sudden the bear jumped on Nikolas trying to get the sandwiches out of Nikolas’s hand.
“Nikolas quick, throw the food into the trees.” Callie said.
The bear turned towards where Callie’s voice had come from just as Nikolas threw the sandwiches into the trees. The bear did not see Nikolas throw the food and thought that he still had it. So he continued to attack Nikolas. The bear was about to smack Nikolas with its large paw, when they heard a loud gun shot. The bear heard it and ran into the trees. Nikolas looked over to where the shot was heard. Standing there was a man holding a gun pointed at where the bear was. He had light brown hair and hazel eyes. He was medium height and had a medium build. He was wearing a ranger outfit.
“Are you okay, Nikolas?” Julia asked as she went over to him and gave him a big hug.
“Yeah. I think I’m okay.” Nikolas said.
“Are you sure, that bear could have killed you.” Callie said as she gave him a hug too.
“I should endanger my life more often because after I get hugs from very cute girls.” Nikolas said as he put his arm around Julia, who was standing right beside him.
Autumn walked over to the man who had scared the bear away.
“If you don’t mind me asking, who are you and how did you know that we were in trouble?” Autumn asked him.
“My name is David Angel. I’m the ranger for this part of Devil’s Point. I was just walking by when I saw the bear on your campground. When I saw the bear attack that young man, I ran over as fast as I could to help.” “Well, thank you very much for helping me.” Nikolas said as he shook the ranger’s hand.
“If you ever need my help again for anything, the closest ranger station is about 3 miles. It is kind of far, but if you really need help, just come. Plus I come by about once a week.” David said.
“Thank you. We will keep that in mind.” Julia said, still standing beside Nikolas. She was worried about him.
“Well good bye.” The ranger said as he turned and started to walk away. “Goodbye.” All six of them said.
The ranger left and A.J. and Callie started to clean up the mess the bear had left behind.
“Well I don’t know about all of you but I am going back to bed.” Nikolas said as he yawned.
“Yeah. I think everyone wants to go back to sleep. It is too early in the morning to stay awake.” Julia said as she herself started to yawn. As everyone started to pile into their trailers, A.J. noticed that Austin had not even been there the whole time the bear and the ranger were there. He was going to go and look to see if he could find him or see if anyone else knew where he was, but he was still very tired. He decided that Austin had just gone for a walk or something like that. He climbed into bed and fell asleep.
