Howie knocked on Melissa’s door.

Melissa: Who is it?

Howie: It’s Howie. Lissa gave me some food for you.

Melissa: Come on in.

Howie opens the door to find Melissa lying on her bed.

Howie: Here you go. (Pause) If you do not mind, can I ask you a question?

Melissa: You just did.

Howie: Another one.

Melissa: Sure.

Howie: Are you ever going to get your lazy butt out of that bed?

Melissa: Excuse me?

Howie: You heard me.

Melissa: I do not think that is any of your business. You do not know what is going on in my life, so stay out!

Howie: Actually, I do. Lissa told me what happened to you.

Melissa: Well Lissa has a big mouth.

Howie: She told me that you broke up with your boyfriend who was a self-centered moron…

Melissa: Will you shut you!

All of a sudden, the two of them hear the door of the bedroom slam shut.

Howie: What the Hell!

The two of them see that the door has been closed and they both run over to it.

Melissa: Hey. What is going on?

They hear Lissa and Nick laughing on the other side of the door.

Howie: Let us out.

Nick: No.

Melissa: What are you doing?

Lissa: We are locking the two of you in there until you start to get along.

Melissa: Like that is going to happen.

Nick: Well it better or the two of you are not going to get out of that room.

Howie: You have got to be kidding?

Lissa: No. Now if you do not mind, Nick and I will be on our way. We will leave the two of you alone so you can get to know each other better. Bye.

Melissa: Lissa…

But she was too late. Lissa and Nick were already down the hall and in the living room.

*************************************************************

Lissa: I really hope that this works.

Nick: Well if it doesn’t, we can always try it again.

Lissa: Yeah. I am sure that they will appreciate that.

*************************************************************

Howie and Melissa continued to bang on the door for a half of an hour.

Howie: This is useless. They have probably already left the house.

Melissa: Maybe someone else will hear us.

Howie: No one is going to hear us so we better get used to the fact that we are stuck in here together.

There was a long pause while the two of them thought about having to be stuck in this room alone together.

Melissa: This is your fault.

Howie: My fault? How is this my fault?

Melissa: If you and your friend had not of came here, this would never have happened.

Howie: Yeah. You would have stayed in your room for the whole week being depressed and driving Lissa crazy.

Melissa: That is better than being in here with you.

Howie: Well…

Howie was about to say something back, but then he changed his mind.

Howie: Look, I am not happy that I am stuck in here either. Believe me, I am going to kill Nick for this, but since we are going to be in here for awhile, can we at least try to get along?

Melissa: I guess that I can pretend to get along with you since it is the only way that we are going to be able to get out of here.

Howie: Well, thank you. I know that it is hard for you to be nice to people.

Melissa: Only to you.

Howie stuck his tongue out at Melissa and she stuck her tongue out at him.

Melissa: So what can we actually do in here to make the time go by faster? I do not think I will be able to stay sane if I am stuck in here with you without anything to do.

Howie: How am I supposed to know, it is your room. Oh, by the way, good choice on the room.

Melissa: What do you mean?

Howie: You had to choose the only room in the entire house without a window.

Melissa: I thought that we were supposed to be getting along with each other.

Howie: We are.

Melissa: Then stop picking fights with me.

Howie: I’m not.

Melissa: Yes, you are.

Howie: No, I'm not.

Melissa: Well then stop talking, if that is possible for you.

Howie: Ah! You are seriously going to drive me to killing you or myself, which ever happens first. Now to stop myself from doing it now, I am going to search the closet for something to do.

Howie walked over to the closet and pulls the door. He is very surprised by what he sees inside.

Howie: Come over here.

Melissa goes over to the closet and looks inside over Howie’s shoulder. Inside she sees bottles of wine with two glasses, a picnic basket and a couple pieces of wood for the fireplace.

Howie: Wow. They really thought of everything. From the looks of it, they are going to keep us in here for a long time.

Melissa: I sure hope not.

Howie: See. I knew you could not do it.

Melissa: Could not do what?

Howie: Actually get along with me without starting a fight for more than ten minutes.

Melissa: I do not know what you are talking about.

Howie: It kills you to be nice to me?

Melissa did not say anything. She just stared at Howie.

Howie: I have an idea. How about the two of us just stop talking to each other. You stay on that side of the room and I will stay on this side. Then both of us will be happy. We won’t have to talk to each other or see each other, okay?

Melissa: Fine with me.

Howie: Fine.

The two of them went over to their sides of the room. Howie went over to the bed and sat down. Melissa went over to a chair on her side of the room, turned it around and sat on it. The two of them sat in these spots and did not say a word to each other for a long while.

*************************************************************

It had been 6 hours since Lissa and Nick had locked the two of them in Melissa’s room and they still had not said a word to each other since their last fight. Howie was still sitting on the bed. Howie was sick of being quiet and sitting still, so he got up and went over to the closet. He opened it up and looked through it until he found what he was looking for. He pulled one of the bottles of wine out and a glass. He sat back down on the bed, opened the bottle and poured himself a glass. He drank the whole thing and then poured himself another glass.

Melissa: What are you doing?

Howie looked up to see that Melissa had turned her chair around and was staring at him.

Howie: I am having a one-man party.

Melissa: What are you going to do, get drunk?

Howie: Wouldn’t you prefer that. This way I will be so wasted that I will pass out and you won’t listen to me.

Melissa: Whatever.

Melissa just watched Howie who was on his fifth glass. She did not want anyone, especially Howie, to know, but she kind of liked the idea of Howie being drunk but it would be better if they both were drunk. Then, Melissa went over to the closet and grabs the other bottle of wine and a glass. She sits down on the bed and starts to try and catch up to him.

Howie: What do you think that you are doing?

Melissa: The same thing as you.

Howie: I do not think that both of us should get drunk.

Melissa: Well why not. We are both miserable in here. This will make it a lot more fun.

Howie thought about the fun that they could have when they were drunk. He knew that nothing was going to happen but it was fun to think about it. The two of them continue to drink. Melissa gets up and goes to the closet.

Howie: What are you doing?

Melissa: I am hungry. I have an idea.

Howie: What?

Melissa: We can have a picnic in here.

Melissa did not wait for Howie to say anything. She just started to set up a blanket on the floor and placed all of the food on it.

Melissa: Sit.

Howie came over to the blanket and sat across from Melissa. The two of them started to eat the food. There were sandwiches, chocolate chip cookies, chips, apples and some cans of pop. They ate in silence for awhile.

Howie: Why are you all of a sudden being nice to me?

Melissa: The alcohol must be kicking in already.

Howie: Really?

Melissa: Not that much.

Howie: What did you think I wanted to take advantage of you while you were drunk?

Melissa: Yes.

Howie: You only wish.

Melissa: I have seen the way that you have been looking at me the whole time that we have been in here.

Howie: You’re the only one in the room.

Melissa: Liar. Will you just admit that you like me?

Howie: Only if you admit it first.

Melissa: Me?

Howie: Yes you. I know that you like me. I saw you checking me out when Nick and I first arrived here.

Melissa: Okay. I will admit it. For a minute when you first arrived, I thought that you were pretty cute but then you opened your big mouth and it ruined that thought.

Howie: You think I am cute.

Melissa: I said thought and anyway I told you I changed my mind.

Howie: You can’t change your mind. You think that I am hot.

Melissa: Can we drop this, please?

Howie: All right, but first you have to admit that you think that I am hot.

Melissa just laughed at him.

Howie: Admit it.

Melissa: No.

Howie: If you don’t, I am going to have to come over there and tickle you.

Melissa: You wouldn’t.

Before Melissa could stop him, Howie was on top of her and he started to tickle her. Melissa was helpless. All that she could do was laugh.

Howie: I am not going to stop until you say that I am hot.

Melissa: You want me to lie?

Howie continued to tickle Melissa and she continued to laugh. All of a sudden, Howie realized what he was doing and stopped. He just stared at Melissa and she stared back.

Howie: I’m sorry. I did not realize what I was doing.

Melissa: Umm… it is okay.

Howie continued to stare into Melissa’s big brown eyes. He leaned in towards her and started to kiss her. They continued to kiss and Melissa wrapped her arms around to Howie’s back. Melissa takes off Howie's shirt and throws it on the floor. They continue to kiss passionately. All of a sudden Howie stopped and pulled away from Melissa. He sat up beside her.

Melissa: What’s wrong?

Howie: I don’t think that we should be doing this.

Melissa: Why?

Howie: Because you are drunk and I don’t want to take advantage of you in this state.

Melissa: I am not drunk.

Howie: You almost finished that bottle to yourself.

Melissa: I have a very high tolerance for alcohol.

Howie: Liar.

Melissa sat up and leaned closer to Howie.

Melissa: I promise I won’t regret it in the morning.

Melissa started to again kiss Howie. She stopped and pushed him onto his back. Melissa moved over and sat on top of Howie’s chest. She leans down and kisses him passionately. She sits up again for a second.

Melissa: And for the record, you are hot.

The two of them laugh as they continue to kiss in each other’s arms and they stay like this throughout the whole night.
