It's True

Nick: Bye! We’ll see all you guys tomorrow!

He waves frantically until they have pulled out of the driveway, then turns around and walks back into his house, slamming the door behind him. Upon returning to his living room, he searches his remaining guests until he finds his girlfriend Lissa, then sprawls out on the couch she is sitting on, his head in her lap. Lissa looks across the room at Howie who has his girlfriend Melissa lying across him in a similar position.

Lissa: I feel sorry for Brian, having to take those four home.

Howie: Why?

Lissa: Well Jill and Andrea had too much to drink hours ago, Kevin doesn’t like it when Brian’s in charge, and AJ hates to leave a party first.

Howie: I have designated driver duty tonight too. Don’t you feel sorry for me?

Lissa: Not really, because even though Nick and Melissa are completely wasted, Nick doesn’t need to be taken home, and Melissa’s light enough for you to carry.

Howie: And what about you?

Lissa: I am not drunk, no matter what you might think.

Howie: You’ve just had too much to drive.

Lissa: Exactly.

Howie: So, are you about ready to go?

Lissa: I think so.

Howie: Okay. Just let me wake Melissa up and we’ll get out of here.

He leans over to whisper in Melissa’s ear as he gently shakes her.

Howie: Melissa honey, it’s time to go now.

Melissa: Already? But I’m having fun.

Howie: Yeah, I can tell. But it’s getting late and Nick needs to get some sleep so we need to leave.

Melissa: Do we have to?

Howie: Yes. We have a meeting to discuss our new album first thing in the morning remember?

When there’s no answer, Howie realizes that she has fallen asleep again. He stands up with her in his arms and starts to head for the door.

Howie: Lissa, are you coming?

Lissa: Yeah, give me a second.

Lissa had been trying to slide out from under Nick without disturbing him, but Nick grabbed her leg to stop her.

Nick: Don’t go, please. Stay here with me.

Lissa: I can’t Nick. Howie’s right. You need to get some sleep before tomorrow’s meeting, so I need to go home.

Nick’s disappointment shows on his face, and Lissa bends down to give him a sweet goodbye kiss before breaking free and falling Howie out the door. Nick raises himself up onto his elbows to watch her walk away before collapsing back down on the couch.

**********

20 minutes later, Nick is just about to drift off to sleep when there is a knock on his door. He groans in frustration and, without opening his eyes, yells out.

Nick: Whoever it is, go away!

Melissa: Nick, it’s Melissa. Let me in.

Nick: The door’s open!

He hears the door open and then close very loudly, and a minute later something bumps against his couch.

Nick: What do you want?

Melissa: I forgot my purse.

Nick doesn’t answer so Melissa slaps his leg, causing him to finally open his eyes.

Nick: Ow! What?!

Melissa: Help me look for it.

Nick: No. Get Howie to.

Melissa: Howie’s not here. I need you.

Nick: Too bad. I’m tired and I’m not moving.

Melissa: Fine then, I’ll find it myself.

Nick: Go ahead.

Nick closes his eyes again as she stumbles around the room. Suddenly he feels something touching his butt. His eyes fly open to see Melissa leaning over him.

Nick: What are you doing?

Melissa: Looking for my purse. What do you think I’m doing?

Nick: Grabbing my ass.

Melissa: In your dreams.

Nick: Not mine.

Melissa: Get up.

Nick: No.

Melissa: You could be lying on it.

Nick: Oh well.

As Melissa continues to move her hand around underneath him, a devilish grin appears on Nick’s face. Melissa happens to look up and catch it seconds before Nick tugs on her arm, causing her to lose her balance. She falls full length on top of him and glares at him.

Melissa: What did you do that for?

Nick: It was fun.

Melissa: You are so immature.

Nick: What’s your problem? I heard that you like being on the top.

Melissa is about to respond to that when she realizes exactly what position they are in. Obviously so does Nick because he turns as red as she does. But when their eyes lock again, neither one has any thought of moving.
