An Evil Side to Setsuna

Hotaru skipped down the street towards her house, school had just ended, and she was ready for for a break of all that mind bending work. She walked up the side walk and turned to the right, where she could see Haruka's car in the driveway. All the sudden, she flew down towards the sidewalk, and hard concrete impacted on her right side.

"Ahhhhhh!," Hotaru screamed as she fell to the concrete sidewalk.

"What was that?!" said Haruka, "It sounded like Hotaru..."

"This is the time she comes home from school, we should go check outside!" shouted Michiru.

They ran outside to see Hotaru on the sidewalk holding her side and panting hard. Haruka ran as fast as she could to Hotaru and picked her up and took her inside.

"I'm very sorry...I didn't mean to hit her that hard! Our baseball just went into your yard, and I wanted to get back into the game, but then she ran and..." a little boy continued.

"You didn't mean to, it's alright, just be a little more careful next time, ok?" Michiru interupted.

"Yes ma'am, It will never happen again," said the boy, as he started to walk away, Michiru smiled and walked into the house to see how Hotaru was doing. Haruka was calling someone on the phone. Shouldn't she be helping Hotaru? Michiru thought, then she glanced over to Hotaru and saw her healing her wounds as her tears dried. I forgot...Hotaru has the power to heal, silly me, the reason Haruka rushed her in was so that the little boy didn't see.

"Setsuna? Yes, this is Haruka. I was wondering when you would be home tonight, I promised Hotaru that we would all go to the park," there was a pause, "Ok, we'll wait. Are you sure? Alright if you say so, We'll see you then, bye!" said Haruka hanging up the phone.

"When will Setsuna be home? You said we would all go to the park and play!" exclaimed Hotaru as she hopped off of the table.

"Setsuna is going to be a little late, she said to go to the park and she'll meet us there, then we'll all come back and have dinner, how does that sound Hotaru?" asked Haruka.

"Why is Setsuna going to be late?" asked Michiru.

"She has something she wants to take a closer look at, but if it takes too long, she'll wait until tomorow and come join us." commented Haruka.

"Ok, I was just wondering, becuase she's not usually late..." stated Michiru.

"Let's go to the park now! Please?!" shouted Hotaru. Haruka and Michiru nodded as they walked out the door.

"What could this be?" Setsuna asked herself looking through a microscope at something, "I've never seen anything like it, it almost looks like part of a comet but I can't be sure...."

"Setsuna?" asked another scientist as he was ready to walk out, "Are you staying longer today?"

"Yes, I found something that I want to research a little harder, to see if I can find out what it is," Setsuna stated.

"Just make sure to lock up when your done, ok?" said the tall man taking off his labcoat.

"I will" said Setsuna as she went back to looking through the microscope. She picked up a crytalized looking rock and held it to her eye level, studying it's glistening shine in the light.

All the sudden, she felt a pain in her head, like a train just crashed into her, and the crystalized rock started to glow a black darker than the night without a moon. The black color shed off of the rock like a snake shedding it's skin, and formed into what seemed like a figure. Taking the chance it had, the evil darkness went straight to went straight to Setsuna's heart, contaminating her with evil and hatred.

The pain started to cease as she lifted her head and looked at the rock.

Same as before.

"I swear it turned black for a split second..." said Setsuna, "I'm sure it was my eyes playing tricks on me. Well, I'll leave and go to the park with Haruka, Michiru, and Hotaru now," she said as she put up her labcoat on a hanger, turned off the lights, locked everything, and went to the park.

"Higher Haruka! Higher!" shouted Hotaru as Haruka pushed her on the swing.

"You're as high as the swing will take you!" Haruka shouted back.

Michiru giggled as she saw how happy Hotaru was, she glanced back and saw Setsuna, her long, green hair, waving in the wind like silk.

"Setsuna!!!!!" shouted Hotaru as she got off the swing, running toward Setsuna with open arms.

"Careful Hotaru!" yelled Michiru as she walked toward Setsuna with Haruka. Then, Hotaru tripped over a rock and landed right on her knee. Setsuna looked down.

"You're always getting hurt, and you are always complaining! You are such a pain to take care of, we should have left you with Usagi and the others, they could deal with you and not me," said Setsuna sternly. Haruka and Michiru gasped, did Setsuna just say that? They could both remember times where Setsuna would laugh and play with Hotaru, she never said anything about her causing trouble, or getting hurt often.

Hotaru looked up with tears in her eyes,"A pain? You don't like me anymore? You want me to live with Usagi and the others?" she barely said without bursting into tears, but then they overflowed like water in a bucket and streamed down her face. Haruka picked up Hotaru and dried her tears with her shirt.

"Setsuna! How could you say such mean things to Hotaru! You've never acted like this, what's wrong?!" shouted Haruka.

"How could you?! Hotaru is your angel, you said so yourself! And now you've hurt her feelings emensly!" pipped in Michiru, angered at what Setsuna had just said about Hotaru.

"She can't even transform, she's a total waste of our time!" shouted Setsuna in an angry rage.

"SETSUNA?!" yelled Haruka and Michiru together. Hotaru jumped out of Haruka's arms and started walking toward the house, tears still streaming from her eyes.

"Walk her home Haruka, I'm going to talk with Setsuna." said Michiru with no tone change in her voice at all. Haruka took Hotaru's hand and walked her back to the house. As soon as they were out of sight, Michiru sat down on the wood edge that kept the sand inside of the playscape.

"Setsuna, if you truely mean everything you said about Hotaru, why didn't you say anything before?" asked Michiru calmly.

"I didn't want to hurt her feelings," said Setsuna as if nothing happened.

"But you just did!!!!!!!!" yelled Michiru.

"Well it's not like she's the only one..." said Setsuna under her breath.

"What?" said Michiru, suspecting something, but not sure what.

"Your just as much as a brat as she is!!! And so is your "partner" Haruka, she may be even worse than you and Hotaru combined!" shouted Setsuna. Michiru was stunned, Setsuna had never complained, she had never asked them to stop doing something because it bothered her. Could this be built up because she didn't want to say anything earlier? Michiru thought to herself.

"Setsuna, I'm going home, I think we would all prefer if you didn't come home tonight," said Michiru as she got up and walked to the house. Setsuna went to her car and drove off somewhere, but Michiru had no idea where.

Michiru walked in through the door, as Hotaru and Haruka both looked up from eating giving her the look like the were saying to her, "Well?".

"Please, Michiru, join us for dinner, I made it myself," said Haruka.

"And I helped!" shouted Hotaru.

"I'm very tired from today's concert, I think I'll go to bed now, and I'm not very hungry, would you please put Hotaru to bed when your done Haruka?" asked Michiru.

"Yeah, I'll be there in a little bit." said Haruka, sensing something wrong with Michiru. She must be upset because of Setsuna...I wonder what happened... thought Haruka to herself.

Hotaru looked at her room, and thought about how Setsuna said she should go live with the others. What if Michiru and Haruka feel the same way? Maybe I should leave and live with Usagi and the others... Thinking that maybe Setsuna was right (she had always been in the past) she started packing her things. She made sure to take clothes, all of her personal belongings, and...she also took a picture of her, Setsuna, Haruka, and Michiru that they had taken when they had given her a surprise birthday party. A tear came down her face as she looked at it, she always kept that picture at her bedside, but to think that the people she loved didn't love her, it just made her feel extremely sad inside. She zipped up her backpack with all of her school things and things to take to Usagi and Chibi-usa's house, she hoped with all her heart they would let her stay with them for a little bit, or until everyone had cooled down and she could come back. She didn't leave a note; she didn't want Michiru and Haruka to come and take her back, that was the whole purpose she was running away, to get away. She hopped they wouldn't worry too much.

She put on her backpack and quietly stepped out the door, hopefully, not waking Michiru or Haruka. As soon as she closed the door softer than a feather and got far enough away to where no one could see her, she went into a telephone booth, and searched around looking or Usagi or Chibi-usa Tsukino. Holding her flashlight over the pages as she read throught the T's, she skimmed every page. Then she found it; Usagi Tsukino, the phone number, and the address. She knew not to call; she didn't want to get in trouble. So she made her way to where her house was. She found a park where she could put down her blanket and pillow, and slept there for the night, hoping that no one would find her; or even bother to look.

Setsuna opened her eyes. She was in the lab, sleeping on the floor. Drowsily; she got to her feet, she noticed her car was outside, she had no clue what happened. All that she could remember was that she felt and extremely sharp pain in her head, then after that, everything was just one big blur.

"What happened...? Why aren't I at home with Michiru, Haruka, and Hotaru?" she wondered. She looked around.

Same as before.

She wondered why no one was at the lab, but then realized it was Saturday. We were supposed to take Hotaru to the park last evening.... did I not go and fall asleep here? she asked herself. I'll go home now, she thought and make sure they weren't too worried about me. But then a flash of black come out of her brooch and formed into what looked like a spirit or soul. Setsuna knew that it couldn't be good and held up her arm,

"Pluto Crystal Power.....MAKE-UP!!!!" she yelled

Silence.

"PLUTO CRYSTAL POWER!!!! MAKE-UP!!!!!" she yelled again.

Yet more silence. The black figure just laughed and said,

"I've disabled your transforming power! Now the hunter has become the hunted!!! I went straight to your heart and cast a dark temporary spell on it, of course it wore off after you caused the damage!"

Did I transform as Pluto and destory from this evil spirit last night?

"I can read your thoughts," said the black figure floating at eye level with her, "you didn't do any physical damage, but you hurt the people you care most about!" it said as it laughed out evily. Setsuna's eyes widened, I hurt the people I care most about?! She couldn't believe this, she ran as fast as she could out the door, hoping to reach Haruka and Michiru as fast as possible, to tell them this demon had infected her the night before, but something was holding her back from going any farther. Then a black energy wrapped around her and sucked out all her energy, she found herself falling to the floor. The black figure just laughed, and moved his hand towards the wall, and Setsuna was slammed into it.

"Now you are my toy!!" said the black figure. But it was too late for Setsuna to retaliate; she had already fallen victim to the evilness, for she was unconcious and was totally vulnerable to anything the creature might attempt to do.

"Now, we shall cause even more terror upon your loved ones!!!" said the black creature, going straight to Setsuna's heart once again. Then she opened her eyes, and a flash of black flickered and receded. She got up, and walked out of the lab, and got in her car, and drove to the one destination she could only imagine; the house of her loved ones.

Hotaru slowly opened her eyes, she realized it was day, and put her things back into her backpack, nicely folded. She brushed herself off making sure it looked like she had been sent to them. She took out a note she had written that was signed by Setsuna, Michiru, and Haruka:

Dear Usagi,
We have sent Hotaru to you, we are fighting minor things every night and don't want her to get hurt. Please take care of her for a little while. Thank you for your help.
Love,
Michiru, Haruka, and Setsuna

She hoped it looked like their handwritting, but pretty much anything could pass Usagi. She folded it and put it in her pocket as she approached Usagi's house. She didn't have any idea what time it was, and hoped that either Usagi or Chibi-usa was awake. She knocked on the door. The seconds seemed like days as she waited someone to answer. It was Usagi.

"H-hotaru?!" was all Usagi could say as her eyes widened on seeing little Hotaru.

"Usagi, I've been sent by Michiru, Haruka, and Setsuna, please read this note they wrote to you." Hotaru handed Usagi the note and she read it carefully. She mouthed it as she read and it and looked back at Hotaru putting the note in her pocket. She smiled a sweet smile.

"Of course I can watch you, but why did they send you alone?" Usagi asked curiously.

"O-oh, they had, an emergency and dropped me off here, they said they were sorry for the inconvenience," Hotaru smiled, proud to come up with such a story on very little thinking time.

"Here, come in," she smiled, "let me get Chibi-usa, I'm sure she'll be totally happy when she knows your staying here with us!" she said as she ran up the stairs. Hotaru patiently waited at the bottom of the stairs, not sure whether to go up or not. She heard some brief words like: Wake up! and Surprise. Then, a very sleepy Chibi-usa came to the edge of the stairs rubbing her eyes, still in her night clothes. She couldn't believe her eyes, was it really Hotaru?! Chibi-usa ran down the stairs and hugged Hotaru so tightly she almost lost her breathe.

"Hotaru!!!!!! I'm so happy to see you again!" said Chibi-usa in an extremely happy voice.

"I'm happy to see you again too," smiled Hotaru.

"MICHIRU!!!!!!!" screamed Haruka as loud as possible. Michiru slowly opened her eyes thinking that the whole neighbor hood must have heard Haruka scream. She walked to Haruka, and saw her searching madly for something.

"What Haruka? Why are you so worried? And why did you scream so loud?" said a sleepy Michiru.

"Hotaru's missing!" she exclaimed. Michiru's eyes widened.

"You're kidding!!" yelled Michiru, "we have to find her then! She's too young to go out by herself, she could get hurt!"

So they went out looking for Hotaru in a daze, but found someone totally unexpected.

There was Setsuna, her car parked just a little bit away from the driveway. Setsuna was running to them. Haruka wondered why, what was she going to pull this time? They both had no idea, but thought they should hear Setsuna out, maybe she had an excuse worth listening to.

"Setsuna! What do you want?!" shouted Haruka.

"Don't come near me!" she said as she ran towards Haruka and Michiru, "get away! FAST!" Haruka and Michiru were confussed, total attitude changes didn't happen over night......did they? Then Setsuna's body started glowing a faint black and she just kept running, she wasn't warning them anymore. Then it hit Michiru and Haruka; she was infected by evil. That explained her foul behavior the night before, and why she had told them to get away from her. Michiru and Haruka nodded at each other, but it was too late, the evil Setsuna had grabbed hold of them both.

"Now you will become my slaves!!!" said a voice other than Setsuna's and her hands started glowing black and then knocked them unconcious. She threw them to the ground.

"Weaklings, there's too many on this earth, that's why we need to destory it," laughed Setsuna.

"Hotaru?!" Minako, Makoto, Ami, and Rei said at the same time.

"We're watching her while Setsuna, Michiru, and Haruka settle some unfinished business, right Hotaru?" stated Usagi. Hotaru nodded.

"I haven't seen you in forever Hotaru!" said Minako hugging Hotaru.

"You should stop by more often, we miss you," winked Makoto. Rei looked around.

"What's the matter Rei?" asked Ami.

"I'm not sure, I feel evil somewhere, but I can't detect it or where it is, it's also very faint, we should wait a little bit until we can detect where it is," said a very calm Rei.

"Usagi! Can we go to the park?!" asked Chibi-usa, "I want to show Hotaru the park!!"

"OK, we'll go to the park, would you like to come guys?" Usagi asked the quartet of Senshi.

"Sure, right guys?" asked Minako, they all nodded in agreement.

So everyone headed to the park, and had a picnic lunch. Hotaru and Chibi-usa played on the swings while the rest of the senshi ate lunch.

"Poor Hotaru, I know how attached she was to those three, to be away from them must be hard for her..." said Ami.

"She's got Chibi-usa to keep her busy, she doesn't have time to be sad!" commented Minako as they all giggled. Then Rei held her head and looked around.

"Rei, what's wrong?!" asked Usagi,

"I feel a major surge of evil around here! And the source is.......HER!" she looked up, and realized she was pointing to Setsuna. The senshi's jaws dropped as they realized they Rei was pointing to the soldier of time. Chibi-usa and and Hotaru stopped swinging, and Hotaru got very pale as Setsuna approached her. The inner senshi just starred, wondering if maybe she was picking Hotaru up, but wouldn't she have said something? Stopping about three feet away from Hotaru, Setsuna held out her hand and black sparks came up.

"Watch it Hotaru!!" shouted Rei as she ran by and took Hotaru out of the way of Setsuna's hand, becuase her hand then sent out a black beam, that caused the swing Hotaru was sitting on to explode. The other senshi weren't sure what to do, was this a fake Setsuna, or did the real Setsuna turn against them? Hotaru was stunned, so she just sat there in a daze. She looked Setsuna in the eye, and saw a black flicker.

"Setsuna's been infected by evil!" shouted Hotaru.

"How do you know?!" shouted Usagi.

"I saw it in her eyes, a black flicker for a split second, it's not her controlling herself right now!" yelled Hotaru,

"She's right everyone! Time to transform!" shouted Rei, and because everyone had fled the park at the site of Setsuna making the swing explode. Everyone else nodded as they held up their arms in the air,

"Mercury Crystal Power....."

"Mars Crystal Power....."

"Jupiter Crystal Power....."

"Venus Crystal Power...."

"MAKE-UP!!!!!" they all shouted at once. And all of the inner senshi transformed.

"Moon...Crisis....Make-UP!!" shouted Usagi and and Chibi-usa, and both transformed into soldier of the moon.

"Transform Hotaru!" yelled Super Sailor Chibi Moon.

"I......I can't...." said Hotaru in a whisper. Then Hotaru saw Michiru and Haruka running to the fight. "Michiru, Haruka!" she shouted.

"Uranus Crystal Power....Make-UP!!" said Haruka, and in a brilliant transformation, became Sailor Uranus.

"Neptune Crystal Power....Make-UP!!" yelled the aqua haired girl, and in another brilliant transformation, became Sailor Neptune. They jumped up and stood in front of Hotaru, protecting her.

"Who are you?!" shouted a voice from Setsuna other than her own.

"We are heroines of Justice known throughout the world!" shouted Super Sailor Moon, "for love and for justice!"

"Pretty soldier in a sailor suit!" shouted Chibi Moon.

"Sailor Moon!" yelled Super Sailor Moon.

"Sailor Chibi Moon!" yelled Super Sailor Chibi Moon.

"On behalf of the moon, we punish YOU!!" shouted Super Sailor moon and Chibi moon.

"And we, the Sailor Soldiers, won't forgive you either!" said the rest of the senshi altogether. Hotaru just stood back and watched as Setsuna fired another black beam, this time at Super Sailor Moon. Luckly, Sailor Moon jumped in time to evade the attack of the evil Setsuna.

"What do you want with Setsuna evil spirit?!" yelled an angered Rei.

"Sailor Pluto aka Setsuna, the goddess of time, correct? I shall take control of her, go to the past, and take over when humans were even weaker than they are now!! The UNIVERSE shall be mine!!" shouted the evil spirit through Setsuna, "Pluto Crystal Power...MAKE-UP!!" and then Setsuna transformed into Sailor Pluto, only to be controlled by evil. Then the evil Pluto held up her garnet staff and opened a portal to the gate of time. Knowing that they had to stop her the rest of the senshi jumped into the portal, including Hotaru, who should have stayed behind. Just as the senshi realized where they were they saw Pluto holding her garnet staff to the door of time as it slowly opened a crack.

"I'm sorry Sailor Pluto.....SHINE AQUA ILLUSION!!!" shouted Sailor Mercury, and just as she calculated, the evil Pluto had jumped out of the way, away from the door.

"No.....don't hurt Sailor Pluto...." whispered Hotaru to herself.

"Venus Love Me Chain!!!" yelled Sailor Venus as she threw her chain at Sailor Pluto, entrapping her.

"Please....don't hurt Sailor Pluto....." said Hotaru a little louder this time.

"Jupiter....Oak Evolution!!" Sailor Jupiter said, queing her powers to fire at Sailor Pluto, they did. Sailor Pluto was knocked unconcious and the evil spirit came out of her body.

"I'll come back to you after I'm done with dealing with these annoying Sailor Soldiers!" shouted the black figure, taking human form, "I'm Cloak, I will destroy you now, Mosiac Buster!!!!" shouted the spirit that called himself Cloak. The attack hit all the senshi sending them flying back, leaving Hotaru the only one unharmed.

"How dare you....How dare you take over Sailor Pluto and hurt my friends!!!!" screamed Hotaru.

"Gaurdian Saturn, I ask you to let me awaken, to strengthen me, so I can help the rest of the senshi with the battles! Let my weakend state turn into power and strength, so I can fight!!" pleaded Hotaru.

"Hotaru?!" the senshi yelled, wondering how she got there. Then, the sign of Saturn appeared on her head in a glowing purple brighter than the sun for a split second.

"Saturn Crystal Power....MAKE-UP!!!!!!!!" shouted an enraged Hotaru. She then transformed into Super Sailor Saturn.

"And which Sailor Soldier may YOU be?" said Cloak, brushing her off. She held out her hand and a purple light stretched all the way beyond her height and became her gigantic glaive.

"Gaurded by Saturn, the Planet of Silence, I am the Soldier of Death, SAILOR SATURN!" she yelled as the sign of Saturn appeared in the back ground and she posed.

"Sailor Saturn.... she finally transformed.." thought Michiru and Haruka.

"Well, lets see if you and your sailor soldier can survive this, BLACK BEAM CRAAH!" he yelled and a huge black beam came crashing down on top of them. Sailor Saturn spun her glaive above her head and yelled,

"Silent....WALL!!!!!" and a wall shielded all of the senshi. They opened their eyes and realized it wasn't halo time just yet.

"World......SHAKING!!!"

"Deep.....SUBMERGE!!!" shouted Sailor Neptune and Uranus. As the rest of the senshi held Cloak off, Saturn ran to Pluto and shook her, trying to wake her up.

Nothing.

So Sailor Saturn placed her hand on her forehead, trying to heal her from all the damage that the evil had done to her body.

Still nothing.

"No.....please.....no..." whispered Sailor Saturn as a tear fell down her face and landed on Pluto's cheek. She slowly opened her eyes and saw Hotaru....or what looked like Hotaru.

"Sailor.....Saturn?" asked a shaken Sailor Pluto. Saturn nodded.

"I was so worried about you!" she said hugging Pluto, but then she heard screams and looked back to see the senshi losing pretty badly, "we've gotta go help Pluto!"

"RIGHT!" shouted Pluto.

"Dead...SCREAM!!!" yelled Pluto, sending a mass of light purple energy at Cloak.

"Silence Glaive Surprise!!!!" yelled Saturn, also attacking Cloak, full force. Cloak was blasted back.

"Saturn! Pluto!" yelled Sailor Moon and the others.

"We should hit him with everything we've got now!" shouted Sailor Mercury, and the other senshi nodded in agreement.

"Mercury....Aqua Rhapsody!"

"Mars....Flame Sniper!"

"Jupiter....Oak Evolution!"

"Venus...Love and Beauty Shock!"

"Space Sword Blaster!"

"Submarine Relfection!"

"Silence Glaive Surprise!"

"Dead Scream!" shouted all the senshi combining their attacks at Cloak, blasting him so hard, he could barely breath.

"Now Sailor Moon and Chibi Moon!" shouted Saturn.

"Right!" shouted Sailor Moon.

"Pegasus, come help protect everyone's dreams...Twinkle....YELL!!" Pegasus appeared and shot a beam from his horn, making Sailor Moon's Kaliedascope.

"Moon....Gorgous....MEDITATION!!!!" Sailor moon Yelled as she dusted Cloak.

"I'm extremely sorry I caused so much trouble, if there's anything I can do to repay you, please let me know," said Setsuna.

"You had an evil spirit in you, it's not your fault." smiled Usagi.

"I'm just glad you're back, Setsuna!" said Hotaru hugging her as they all smiled.

"And I'm glad you're finally able to transform again," remarked Setsuna as Hotaru smiled.

"Why couldn't she transform in the first place?" asked Makoto.

"We're not exactly sure, all we knew was that she couldn't transform one day, and started getting younger and younger, like she was before she awakened, but now everything's back to normal," smiled Setsuna, "well, we should get going now, thank you Usagi, thank you all."

"No problem" they all remarked as Haruka, Michiru, Setsuna and Hotaru walked back to their house in the sunset.
