I wish I had the knowledge, to explain why those we love leave us long before we are ready to let go. On my first website, I had memorials for Matt Shepard, and those who have lost their lives to AIDS. This time around, creating this section is much more heartfelt, because of a recent loss in my life. I feel the pain each and every day. I long to hear words that before I took for granted. We never know when our time has come. We can't fully prepare for our parting, for anytime seems too soon. But we can remember those we've lost. We can hang on to their love, carry on their legacies, and praise the day when we will again be with them, and feel their wings wrapped around us. This will be one of the last sections to be completed on my site, because it is one of the most difficult. Even as I create this introductory page, my eyes fill with tears. I remember the tragedy of a man murdered for his sexuality. I remember the courage and pain of the many who suffered with AIDS. I remember the passion of a woman with pride and conviction who quietly slipped away a week before Christmas, 1999, leaving my family to mourn the loss of a matriarch. |
