Jackie Johnson was born in Kansas City and raised in Tonganoxie, Kansas. After marrying her first husband, Andy, she was blessed with four children. Paige, Parke, Allen, and Paulette. Jackie worked her way through college to become a business teacher. For many years, she touched and enriched the lives of many as an educator in a few different high schools in Kansas. In the mid 80's, Jackie and teenage daughter Paulette moved to Brussels, Belgium where Jackie taught for the Department of Defense at Brussels American School. While in Belgium, Jackie met her second husband Jean (pictured above). While in Belgium, each of her four kids and two grandchildren had the opportunity to travel to Europe and beyond thanks to her generousity as well as Jeans.
Jackie was a very strict woman. She could see the potential in people that no one else could, and would drive it out of them by any means possible. So many people owe their success to her. To her students, she was more than an educator. She was an entire support network in one. She unselfishly gave of herself whenever asked, and even without being asked.
Jackie was stricken with cancer in the late 90's. Initial operations and treatments lent way to optimism for a full recovery. In 1999, as the cancer returned and spread rapidly, it was obvious that the disease would not be overtaken.
On December 15, 1999, while in a coma in a Belgian hospital, with Jean lovingly by her side, Jackie took God's hand, shed her skin, and claimed her wings as God's newest angel. |
