Douglas Raymond Lange
Nov. 27,1999
I remember the days leading up to the day I lost Douglas like it was yesterday.
I was about seventeen weeks along, and had just gone to the Dr two days before and everything was fine.

It all began on Thanksgiving Day 1999. I had started having contractions at work, they were very mild so I didn't realize that that's what they were, they also were not regular, so I didn't think twice about it.

It was between 9:00p.m and 10:00p.m that night my water broke, and again I had no idea that is what it was, I just thought Douglas was "laying just right" on my bladder.

I knew something was very wrong when getting ready for work the next morning, and saw blood, so we went to the emergency room.

After the hospital had done an Ultra Sound, and the specialist looked at it, the Dr told me that there was no amniotic fluid around the baby.

The Dr told me one of two things would happen, either the sac would mend it's self or my baby would die.

All I know is Douglas was alittle fighter, he lived for two days after my water had broke.

The Ultra Sounds and monitoring went on for a day and a half, and every time,Douglas was moving and best of all his heart was still beating.

When it came to what would be the last Ultra Sound that was done, I just wanted to say "don't bother you wont see a heartbeat."
I was almost seventeen weeks along and could not feel him move yet, but I knew there would be no movement and worst of all no heartbeat...I was right.

They started to induce labor at 3:00p.m and at 11:45p.m on November 27th I delivered a beautiful baby boy.
He was so tiny, so perfect, I couldn't understand why or how this had happened.

The autopsy that was performed showed everything was fine, there was no medical reason this had happened.
