In a far off world one of the Princesses just shook her head.
“What should we do about the High King?” The blue-haired man
just shook his head. Looking at his wife, his reply came slowly.
“We have to bring at least two of them back, maybe all three.
The High King is too powerful. He would easily kill us both.”
“Who do we call?”
“Perhaps we should induct new members, as well as bringing back
our old favorites.”
“He’s been found. She’s still hiding.”
“I’ll find her. It shouldn’t be too awful hard to track her
ship down.”
The Princess’s face grew stern and thoughtful. “Do
you think she knew? I mean, why else would she run?
When she left, if she had known about the King. Well, none
of would have believed her.”
“I have to get my summons back. By the way...on your
thought. Bet on it.”
“If the High King is destroyed, that makes her the High Queen.”
“Good. It’ll be incentive for her to come home.”
“She never wanted to rule.”
“Duty before preference. I have to go. When
I get ‘Anima’ back I’ll find her.” They embraced and in the
flash of an eye he was gone. Having teleported away from the
home of the immortals.
I didn’t remember falling asleep again. I realized
I did when I awoke with the sun. Vincent was, seemingly, peacefully
asleep next to me. I slipped out of the tent, grabbing my pistol
and headed towards a nearby pond.
Something was wrong. I had the horrible feeling that
I was being watched. I stopped and looked around.
Nothing was amiss. Still, I checked my pistol...my summons
was gone! I ran back to the tent and tore it apart.
It was nowhere to be found. I whirled around to face a still
bleary-eyed and confused Vincent. “Where is it!”
“Where is what?”
“My summons!”
“I don’t know. Did you put in your bag?”
I looked. My bag! It was gone too!
“Where’s my bag!?”
“I don’t know, it was next to you when I fell asleep.”
I walked outside and looked around. Then I dropped to my knees,
looking up at the sky I screamed with all my might.
“SEPHIROTH!! I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!!”
“You’re freaking out again.”
“Sephiroth must have taken it. He’s the only one
that can teleport.”
“How do we guard ourselves from ‘Anima’?”
“You don’t”
Later in the day, after everyone had re-united we set our minds
on the crater. It was a long walk down.
Then we found her. Jenova was waiting for us.
I stood in battle against her with Cloud and Vincent. It actually
wouldn’t have mattered if they had been there or not. She concentrated
on me, and even with diligent healing spells and barriers I could feel
myself losing the battle. I simple had nothing of any caliber
left to throw at her. Before my eyes dimmed I recall using
all I had left to run to her and pull out of her barriers so that when
Cloud summoned the Knights they would hit her full force. Then
I saw it, Vincents entire face, he had tears in his eyes. Before
the end I smiled at him.
