Chapter 1: Mission
It was a beautiful Sunday morning when Vincent awoke from another nightmare.
They had become more frequent now. He had been having the same nightmare
ever since they defeated the merciless foe sephiroth. The dreams had been
a lot clearer lately. Every time he saw the vision in his mind it horrified
him. He saw Lucrecia smiling at him then a flash of green light and Lucrecia
lying bloodied on the floor with a dark figure standing over her. Vincent
couldn’t bear to see Lucrecia dead. Vincent stopped worrying for a moment
and got up out of bed and walked into his kitchen to make himself some
breakfast. When he finished eating He got dressed in his uniform and turned
into the chaos beast and flew to work. He had now become a Turk again who
were now more like peacekeepers than murderous mercenaries. Vincent started
thinking about the dream again and wondered if it could be a vision. His
lack of concentration caused him to lose the power of chaos and he returned
to his normal form. Vincent found himself falling from 200m in the air.
He was only about 20 meters from the ground when he pulled out his death
penalty and fired three shots but only one got lucky and pierced a power
line nearby and sent it flying towards him. The thick line whipped his
leg and he grabbed his leg in agony but he still managed to grab the electric
wire with his metal claw. He was still clutching his leg when he dropped
to the ground landing perfectly on his feet. Vincent decided to walk the
rest of the way to work at least then there was no risk of turning into
a pancake. When he finally arrived at the shinra headquarters he checked
in at the front desk and went up to his office where Reno, Rude and Elena
were waiting.
“You’re late,” said Reno.
“Sorry” said Vincent bluntly.
Since Tseng had died Rude had become the leader of the Turks but he
was pretty laid back and he let them get away with a lot of things. He
was nowhere near as strict as Tseng. Rude immediately launched into an
explanation of their mission, which was to wipe out some monsters near
Nibleheim.
Vincent looked up sharply at Rude.
“Why would Nibleheim need help? They have Cloud and Tifa to protect
them,”
“I was getting to that,” said Rude
“”They said they couldn’t handle it,” said Reno
“That’s not possible!” said Vincent looking shocked.
“CAN I PLEASE FINISH MY SENTENCE!!” shouted Rude.
They all looked at him surprised
“Thank you,” he said calmly again. “May I continue?”
They all nodded still looking shocked.
“Vincent do not worry it is not that they can’t handle it, it is just
that if they leave the village to destroy the monsters no one will be there
to stop the monsters from destroying the village, so basically they want
us to kill the monsters while they stay and protect Nibleheim.”
“Sounds pretty simple,” said Elena.
“Well it’s not going to be that easy,” said Rude quickly before Reno
had a chance to cut him off. “On Cloud’s message it said that the monsters
are extremely strong and that there was a lot of them and they had no idea
how many there could be at the nest.”
“Well let’s get our butts into gear and go save Cloud.” Said Reno enthusiastically.
They equipped their best weapons and Armour and set off to the airship.
“I’ll meet you there,” yelled Vincent as he ran upstairs before anyone
could protest. He walked right up to the president’s office. The new president
was loved buy the people and he did what was right for them not what would
get Shinra more money. Reeve had become president about a year after the
team had defeated Sephiroth. Vincent walked into his office and saw him
working through a stack of paperwork.
“Hey Vincent,” said Reeve as he walked.
“Hey Reeve,” said Vincent “It looks like they’ve got you working hard.”
“No kidding,” said Reeve.
“We’re off on another monster slaying mission,” said Vincent.
“Where to this time?” asked Reeve.
“Nibleheim” said Vincent without hesitation.
“What?” shouted Reeve. “Why would they need help to kill monsters there?”
“It’s no big deal I was just wondering if Cait Sith could come?” asked
Vincent. “We may need his help.
“Sure thing,” said Reeve. “He’ll meet you at the airship.”
“Thanks,” said Vincent. “Well ciao,” said Vincent leaving.
“Oh Vincent before you go,”
“What?” said Vincent
“Be careful what ever your fighting must be strong if Cloud asked for
our help!” exclaimed Reeve.
“Thanks I will,” said Vincent.
