Prologue: Something Bad Is Gonna Happen

My intention is deception
Doesn't seem to impress me anymore
Three in the morning so the city so be sleeping
Let's take a trip to the otherside
It's time to see what kind of shit we'll get away with
I never felt this much alive

Suddenly, Liol awoke from his deep sleep; from outside there was a deafening sound of gunfire and a god-awful scream that pierced his very soul. The light green glow from the street had to mean the use of materia, he learnt it all from his father before he had even started school. He had always maintained the idea that materia was a dangerous thing and must only be used by proper grown-ups. The noise from outside was very loud and Liol could not get back to sleep.

“What the hell is this thing?” Came the cry from outside.

Liol felt intrigued by the loud noise and looked out of his bedside window. The view was spectacular, Liol had certainly seen nothing like this in his life, only imagined it from his father's stories. Bolts of magic energy flew across the street hitting various buildings with names Liol couldn’t even read yet.

All the soldiers were trying to fight the glowing green man standing in the road with both materia and gunfire. One of the soldiers pumped the man with assault rifle ammuniton until he had stopped moving. Liol screamed. He had never seen a man die before, it wouldn't be the last time that day. Liol's scream was silenced by his mother's warm hand over his soft face, he felt comfortable again and turned round to give her a hug.

" We've got to get out of here along with Cherrie and Dad, ok.?" She whispered into his ear. Liol thought for a second and scratched his chin in a cute sort of way that made his mother smile.

" Why have we got to go? What's wrong?"

" Something's happening outside that we don't want to stick around for, understand?"

"Ok." He smiled.

Outside Liol's window the body of the man began to twitch and start to move into a standing position, the gathering of soldiers gasped and readied their weapons for another round. One of the higher ranking soldiers walked up to the body and kicked it in it's chin, sending it's head flying back to the concrete floor. He then stamped heavily on the chest an fired a round into the creature's face, spreading flesh around the floor. The soldier had begun to walk away when the creature stood up again, the dark green mist that encircled the dead man’s body moved towards the soldier, the mist began to circle him almost inspecting him before diving into his body. Both the bodies dropped to the floor.

Liol had got dressed and put all of his most cherished possessions into his rucksack, his mother had done the same and had strapped Cherrie onto her back. She was smiling, blissfully unaware of the circumstances. Liol's mother smiled a false smile and turned the handle on the front door.

" Daddy's ahead, we'd better go now."

Liol nodded. " Ok."

Cloud stood and watched as the possessed soldier got back up and knocked down every man around him within a twenty metre radius. The green electricity flowed through them, killing them in a painful second. Cloud withdrew his huge sword from it's sheath and eyed up his target, and charged. Before Cloud could finish his run the soldier raised his hand, stopping Cloud with an invisible force.

" Not so eager now." Sniggered the soldier. " You may end up hurting someone with a blade that size!"

Cloud struggled under the strength of the force pushing him back. " What are you?"

" The question should be who I am rather than what."

Cloud shuddered as the soldier's face changed before his very eyes. " No." Whispered Cloud.

"  Yes. Cloud it is me, and this time I shall not fail."

Cloud fell to the floor as the force was lifted from him, dropping his weapon. The soldier's form completely changed in a split second, his khaki green and grey jacket and trousers contorted into a black robe with metal shoulder pads, his short length brown hair stretched to a length below his knees.

Cloud wiped the blood from his chin slowly and flicked his hand so that most of it splashed on the floor.

" Sephiroth."

The tall man materialized the mausarme sword from thin air and waved it about.

" A thing of beauty don't you think Cloud?"

Cloud lifted himself off the floor holding his stomach.

" Fuck you."

Sephiroth kicked Cloud in the stomach twice and slashed open is right arm, sending him to the floor screaming.
" Disobedient failure." Whispered Sephiroth into Cloud's ear before kicking him into the stomach one last time.

" You won't win Sephiroth whatever you're planning. You can kill me, but the others will stop you. I promise."

Tifa ran through the streets of Rocket Town with her two children to the meeting place she had agreed to with Cloud. Whatever had happened tonight had scared Cloud bad, reports of an indestructible man had increased in the last couple of hours. Cloud had gone to check out these reports and told her to meet him in the main square. They had both decided that she should look after Liol and Cherrie while Cloud investigated whatever problem there was and in preparation Tifa had taken a mastered Ultima as protection.

Suddenly, Tifa heard a human scream echo around the streets of Rocket Town, suspicion crept her mind and with telling her two children to be quiet she pulled herself  close to the wall and slowly looked around the corner. Both shock and terror overtook her as she saw her husband riving in agony on the street floor, dilluted blood trickled down the puddles of the cobbled street and static green lifesteam pulsed and waved around him. The source of the lifestream seemed to be the tall man with knee length silver hair that stood beside him, Tifa supposed that he was either impersonating Sephiroth or the bastard had returned from the dead. The latter seemed so intensely unlikely that Tifa felt like kicking her self for even thinking like that. Either way, the man had to be disposed of, she wasn't prepared to let every thing she had worked so hard for in five years disappear in an instant.

Feeling into her right pocket Tifa clutched the green Ultima orb and focused her thoughts on the man in the black cape. Closing her eyes she felt the power flow through her and channel to her target. Green mist filled the air and the man fell to the floor, he had taken the full blast and blood was pouring out of his scalp.

Running towards her husband's body Tifa couldn't help but wonder if she should have came here earlier, maybe this wouldn't have happened at all.

" What happened?" She asked, helping him to stand.

" Sephiroth." He replied in a deep croaky voice.

Tifa gasped and put her hand to her mouth, picking up the courage to look she turned over the body to reveal the monster's face.

" Is he,,,,,"

" I don't think so." Whispered Tifa. " We'd better get out of here and tell the others."

Cloud replied with silence.

Tifa was confused. " What's wrong?"

" He's getting back up."

Sephiroth's body, although slow and sluggish at first, began to flow with green electricity again. He soon regained full control of his body and the blood from the power of Ultima was no where to be seen.

Tifa began to run as fast as she could, supporting Cloud slowed her down and she felt it was only a matter of time before Sephiroth was upon them.

Sephiroth looked at Tifa as her strong, long legs attempted to escape him. It was futile, he did not even have to try. He flicked his wrist and flung them to the floor, knocking them out instantly. Walking past them he looked around for any onlookers who may have seen the fight. Expecting to see no one, for it was the dead of night, a young boy was crouched around the corner, he was holding an even younger female in his arms, they were both shivering from the cold. Sephiroth smiled, they had not seen what had happened to Cloud and Tifa.

Approaching the young boy, Sephiroth touched him on the shoulder.
“Who are you?” asked Liol.

“ Why should that matter?" Asked Sephiroth.

“ Mummy says not to speak to strangers.”

“ And who is mummy Liol?”

“ My mummy?”

“ Her name what is it?”

“ Daddy always calls her Tifa.” Sephiroth smiled again, as the boy continued. " But what about you Mister, what’s your
name?"

“ Sephiroth.” He smiled.

The boy smiled back, Sephiroth supposed it would be for probably the last time. The dark green mist that encircled the Sephiroth's body moved towards Liol, The mist left Sephiroth's body and the soldier's body that Sephiroth previously possessed slumped to the floor, the mist then beagn to circle Liol. Cherrie and Liol began to scream . It was like a nightmare, Liol just wanted the horrid mist to go away. The mist circled Liol once more almost inspecting him before diving into his body. The pain was instant, it felt like evry part of his body was being torn apart at once, Liol's scream grew even higher in pitch. The mist overtook Liol’s body and Sephiroth was now in control, Liol's spirit was almost completely gone, the only part left now was the part being slowly tortured by Sephiroth's own soul.

Watching as Cherrie's scream began to wake people residing in Rocket Town, Sephiroth ran into a nearby dark alleyway. As he ran deeper into the town's underground he thought about how this plan would destroy all that was left of this wretched planet. Another smile crept upon his face, a darker, more evil smile, as he heard Liol's screams for him to stop.
