Climbing Mt. Rishiri

My friend Ben Mikesh and I decided to hike Mt. Rishiri, which is a giant volcanic cone rising out of the ocean off the northernmost coast of Hokkaido. We took with us cookies and crackers... and no warm clothes. We stayed in a little mountain hut overnight and FROZE TO DEATH.

Ben takes a drink from the pure spring water coming out of the ground on our way up. After spending the night in a small mountain hut (which is barely visible) we hiked up past the cloud line.
Towards the top, we had to use ropes to scale the loose volcanic rock. Just below the summit, the small shrine on top became visible.
I was more than a little happy to reach the top.
