Honshu:

The largest of the four main islands, Honshu is where Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, and most of the large cities are located. Ben and I traveled to Hiroshima to see the A-Bomb Dome before traveling to Nara, where we saw the Todaiji Temple, the Great Buddha, and where I reached Enlightenment. Finally, I headed to Kamakura, where the Daibutsu (Great Buddha of Kamakura) is located.

One of the only buildings left standing after the atomic blast hit Hiroshima. The most powerful Buddhist temple in Japan, and the largest wooden structure in the world.
The great Buddha of Nara, whose head has both melted and fallen off in the past. There is a legend that if you can fit through a small hole in one of the main pillars of the temple, you can reach enlightenment. Here's a mid-enlightenment shot of moi. (The only other people who accomplished this feat while I was there were small children, so another point for my high metabolism and scrawny frame)
The great buddha of Kamakura.
