Welcome to the home page of the apprentice boys o aikschaw campsie curn, the hame’o tha teeger York raa, Tiger's bay, branch Belfast [ meaning ] apprentice boys of Derry campsie club York street ,tigers bay branch north Belfast. The apprentice boy’s o Aikschaw has a predominately Ulster Scots membership. It started on the 28th of July 2001 and has 42 members It was formed from a relationship between dalry walker club in Ayrshire Scotland and ligoniel Walker club in north Belfast. Colonel walker was a minister within the siege of Derry and was then appointed governor of the city. However walker was an English man and therefore once the club had an Ulster Scots agenda out of the two clubs the name was changed and the new club formed to honour Henry campsie. Henry was a young Scottish apprentice boy one of the brave 13 who closed Derrys gates against King James advancing army. The club was set up to accommodate the lower north Belfast area of northern Ireland between the Crumlin road and Alexandra park avenue who wish to participate in Ulster Scots apprentice boys activities. Also the area around the Ayrshire coast to date the club has three English members and we hope that it will expand across the world. Our sincere thanks go to Ligoniel and Dalry Walker clubs and may god help them florish NO SURRENDER For further information contact aiken33@hotmail.com Site/infomation compiled by; Graham paull William webster and Thomas aiken pp A.B.O.D Tigersbay Branch |
