Adam Clark
Wonder and Awe: The Big Bang

The Big Bang Theory is the the scientific theory of how everything came to be. According to theory, about 15 billion years ago there was an amazing explosion that created all of space. In the explosion, both matter and anti-matter were created. If matter and anti-matter collided they would cancel out and turn into nothingness. There was more matter created in the explosion therefore glaxies in a universe were created. A man named Edwin Hubble found that all of the universe is continuously expanding. From that he deduced that all of the galaxies were going away from a central point, the location of the Big Bang.

The big bang causes wonder for me in both ways, mystery and awestruck. When I think one event that took a fraction of a second can make everything that i see when i look up into the sky from my bedroom when i can't sleep at night, the thought seems to amaze me every single time. 15 billion years later, life has formed from the non-living matter that sprung from the big bang. I can't even attempt to understand fully how large our universe is and what exactly does it contain. If life formed on Earth, then maybe somewhere in a distant galaxy there is another planet like Earth and on that other planet there are people like us. It is hard for me to grasp that something like this is possible.
