Disclaimer: I don't own anything or anyone, just the plot, but I wish I did own Spike and Oz so I could tie them up and do naughty things to them. Song lyrics from Jennifer Page's "Let it rain"
Summary: Buffy meets up with an old friend somewhere far away from Sunnydale while on a vacation. Short songfic, that might turn into a series, I dunno, depends.
Time-line: A couple of years after The Becoming. Angel never returns from Hell and Spike never comes back to Sunnydale so all events change appropriately
Distribution: Please want my story!! And if you do I LUV YOU!! But tell me so I can brag to all my friends =0 )
Feedback: This is my first fic ever and I have a very fragile ego, so please be kind!! I would love all constructive feedback, so if you're gonna tell me my story is crap at least tell me how to fix it. Or you could just tell me how great I am and how much you like my smiley faces =0 )
Dedicated to: Bron and Jess who introduced me to fanfiction which we affectionately call porn (for the obvious reasons)
"Of all the bars in all the world, she had to walk into mine," Spike growled, "or however that bloody line goes."
He had just seen the blonde walk into the smoky bar, which Spike had recently made his hunting ground here in LA. It reminded him of the little place the slayer and her little slayer pals used to go to every night back in Sunnydale. He didn't really know why he wanted to be reminded of that place after all that had happened there, maybe because it had been his only real home with Dru that he had had, apart from Prague. But Dru had left him, and Prague was a very long time ago. After the mess with the Slayer and Angel, she had never been the same, she had changed, and in ways so had he. *Angel…in hell…* That always sent happy feelings all over Spike's body.
As the music changed from the loud thumping dance music to a slower melodic song that was seductive, fitting perfectly with the slayers strides, Spike watched her glide her way through the bar/nightclub with ease, as if she was walking down an empty path instead of a crowded dance floor.
It's in your eyes, you wanna cry
But you're afraid to let go
Sometimes the past, comes rushing back
Emotions overflow
She radiated sexuality and confidence which was attracting men like flies to her. Some were idiotic enough to think they could bully her into dancing with them by grabbing her arm, but she cast them aside as if they were mere children who were of no importance. Spike knew that wasn't the way to treat the Slayer of all Slayers, Buffy Summers.
You don't have to worry, you know I'll understand
I wanna help you through it, anyway I can
I'm gonna be here for you, take me by the hand
Break through these skies of grey, don't hold back
Let it rain
"Slayer," Spike whispered in her ear as she walked pass where he was standing. Buffy spun about so quickly he didn't have time to react before she had her hand around his neck and up against the nearest shadowed wall.
"Who are you, and what do you want?"
Let it rain
Let the teardrops wash away the pain
By your side I promise to remain
My love will pour like sunshine through the rain
Let it rain
Spike gave her a puzzled look before he realized his hair was no longer bleached and had that messy look giving him a completely different appearance from the one the slayer had only seen during his time in Sunnydale all those years ago. His dress sense had also changed since he had last seen her. He was now wearing a casual suit instead of the never changing black t-shirt and red silk shirt the slayer would have always easily identified, not forgetting his long black leather duster.
"Let's just say, I'm a friend," Spike answered.
"What?" Buffy gave him a shocked look and loosened her grip on Spike's neck.
With every touch, I'll earn your trust
You'll see my love is for real
*Angel* thought Buffy realizing perfectly it couldn't be him even though his hair is a little the same, but the rest of him was completely different. She could look easily into this guy's eyes without hurting my neck too much, and he is totally different from Angel, and yet … familiar. *Way wiggy.*
Spike gave her a quick cocky grin before grabbing the hand around his neck and somehow maneuvering them both back onto the dance floor and in a tight embrace.
"Much better," Spike said in his best American accent. He wanted to keep his facade going on for a little while longer, he wanted to have some fun before the night's end.
So let me in, I'll show you how to love again
Don't have to hide how you feel
They were soon dancing to the slow song before Buffy could think about what she was doing. But even after she could think about it, Buffy didn't stop, though she had a feeling she should.
I'll be here to hold you, hold you when you cry
With all my tenderness, I'll push the clouds aside
We'll make tonight the night, you leave it all behind
Break through these skies of grey, don't hold back
Let it rain
*What the hell am I doing??!! I'm getting all close and personal with a complete stranger who knows what I am!*
*You're just dancing with a gorgeous guy with a killer smile. Nothing too personal about that. Just enjoy it dammit.* Buffy couldn't help noticing that their bodies fitted perfectly with each others, like two missing pieces of a puzzle had finally found their place together. As both moved to the music as one, she again felt the pang of familiarity.
*Where the hell do I know this guy from??*
Let it rain
Let your teardrops wash away the pain
By your side I promise to remain
My love will pour like sunshine the rain
Let it rain
While Buffy was trying to figure who her dance partner was, Spike was having very impure thought about his so-called enemy.
*God! What it would like to have that perfect legs wrapped around me, while I.. No!! You're gonna kill the Slayer! Kill. Slayer. Right! But, oh those legs* Spike inner battle making his back stiffen against Buffy.
You'll see a brighter day
Let my love lead the way
To a rainbow in the sky
Tears of joy will fill your eyes
Let it rain
"What is it?" Buffy asked confused at the stranger's rigidity.
"Nothing Lu…., it was nothing," Spike caught himself, he had nearly given away his identity. The slayer would have instantly known who he was if had of finished the easily recognizable word 'luv'.
Feeling that her dance partner had once again relaxed his posture, Buffy soon rested her head on Spike's shoulder, and they both danced slowly to the music as if they were totally alone, instead of a crowded and smoky nightclub.
Let it rain
The song ended and they both looked into each others' eyes, and, as naturally as breathing, the two leaned into each other and kissed. Soft and subtle, yet full of passion, which matched their situation. "Wow," Buffy whispered as it ended and touched her lips. When Buffy went to look into the strangers eyes again and saw something she hadn't seen before the kiss, confusion.
Spike took one last look into the hazel eyes staring up at him, turned… and ran for dear life.
"Huh?? Not the reaction I was hoping for."
