Title: The Ghost of Stone Mountain (Part 2)
Author: Joyce
Rating: PG-14
Disclaimer: Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel the Series characters. They belong to 20th Century Fox, and Joss Whedon. Also I am making no profit off this story. Please don't sue, I'm just a poor college student.
Background: Anything up to Buffy season 4 / Angel season 1 finals is fair game. Also this is a sequel to The Emerald coast, you should really read it first, or this one won't make sense.
Author note: This is Buffy/Spike! It also has a little Anya/Xander and a bit of Cordelia/Angel. Riley? Who's Riley? ;-)

The Dickey Plantation House

Albany, GA

July 4, 1860

Sixteen year old Elizabeth Abigail Davis put down her book with a sigh when she felt a tug on her long dark braid. Her large green eyes met the perturbed ones of her youngest siblings. Nine year old Ella had been begging her all morning to come play in the garden. Ella had enlisted the help of their seven year old twin brothers, James and Robert to drag her out into the South Georgia heat. For the last twenty minutes Elizabeth had sat reading in the shade of a large magnolia tree, content with the small breeze that helped battle the oppressive July heat. But now all three of the younger Davis children looked at her, expecting her to participate in their games.

"C'mon Libby! You promised you'd play with us." they pouted.

"I did no such thing! I told ma I'd keep an eye on ya'll while they get the house ready for the big party tonight." Elizabeth told them. She had no intention of getting all sweaty and dirty with the children. She wanted to look her best because William Bryan was coming over tonight. She was smitten with the twenty-one year old soldier. He had told her he'd be leaving for somewhere up north next week. Elizabeth shuddered despite the heat as she thought about the very real possibility that the war could move down to Georgia. Her father, Charles, older brother, Francis, and William himself had all assured her that that wouldn't happen. While their confidence was comforting, she couldn't help but worry.

"Will we get to play with sparklers?" Ella's eyes had lit up at the mention of the party that night.

"Pa says we can help light the big fireworks this year." James told her proudly.

"He said we could watch, James. Not help." Robert was nervous about being so close to the big loud explosions.

"Well, that's more than us girls get to do." Elizabeth stood up feeling giddy with excitement about the upcoming celebration. Despite her resolution to keep cool and clean, she playfully slapped James on the back calling out, "You're it!" as she made a mad dash for the flower garden behind them.

Buffy woke up slowly, with a smile on her face.

"Elizabeth Abigail Davis." she murmured.

"What' s that luv?"

After the big argument, everyone had gone their separate ways for the day. Giles, Tara, Willow and a reluctant Cordelia had gone to the Confederate museum. The only reason Cordy had gone with them at all, was because of the promise of elaborate gift shops at every corner.

Anya and Xander were taking advantage of the empty bedroom that he and Giles shared. The ex-demon had pointed out that since Buffy and Spike had had sex while on this trip, then why couldn't they?

Angel, Buffy, and Spike had fallen asleep in their dark hotel room, when Buffy had had another strange dream.

"That's the girl's name. Elizabeth Abigail Davis." she told Spike. The blonde vampire gave her a confused look.

"You know! The girl in my dream."

"Did you have it again?" his concern evident on his face.

"Yes, but this time it was different. It was nice." she kissed him.

"Mmm, you should have nice dreams more often." he told her before claiming her lips again.

Angel cleared his throat from the bed on the other side of the room. "Some of us are trying to sleep, do you mind?" he teased the couple.

"Sod off!" Spike told his sire, but his sparkling eyes belied his harsh tone.

Suddenly the door opened, and Cordelia, arms loaded with bags and boxes, stumbled into the dark room.

"Bloody Hell woman! Did you leave anything for the rest of the guests?" the blonde vampire asked, eyeing all of her purchases.

Cordelia sent him a withering glance, before beginning to pull out her souvenirs to show Buffy. For the next 20 minutes the girls excitedly went through them all, trying to ignore the frustrated sighs of the vampires, who were trying to go back to sleep. Finally Spike was done with being tactful.

"Why don't you chits walk around the grounds for a while, eh? Your bloody yammering is giving me a headache. "

"Well, since you asked so nicely!" Buffy really did want to leave the room and explore. She had just felt bad about leaving Spike and Angel alone since they couldn't come out with her. But she could tell by the look on Spike's face that he wouldn't mind at all if she were to leave for a little while.

"Ok! We'll be back in a few hours." Buffy gave Angel a quick kiss on the forehead and made as if to leave, until she felt Spike grab her. He yanked her into a passionate kiss that made her knees weak. She reluctantly pulled away while she still could, and headed for the door. Both vampires looked at Cordelia expectantly.

"What? Buffy's the one with the undead fetish. I'm not kissing either one of you!" with that, the May Queen followed Buffy out the door.

Buffy and Cordelia were able to find a trail of stone steps behind the inn, leading to the Antebellum Plantation. The Antebellum Plantation was an assembly of nineteen buildings from different parts of the state, set up to resemble a plantation home of the mid 1800's.

The girls arrived just in time for the three o'clock tour. A man and woman dressed in Civil War era clothes introduced themselves as Jeff and Rachel, the tour guides. As Rachel gave a brief overview of what they would be seeing, Jeff handed out maps of the layout. The girls decided to take the tour, seeing as how it would be a good way to kill time.

The first stop was just inside the entrance. The Country Store. It had been built in the 1830's in Orange, Georgia. The store resembled a small cottage with an iron stove and chimney. Inside was packed with old-fashioned type souvenirs and a confectionery that had all types of sweets, including rock candy in almost every flavor they could think of.

"We better not tell Xander about this, he'd make himself sick!" Cordelia told Buffy.

"As soon as Anya is through with him, I'm sure his nose will lead him here!" the girls shared a laugh at that and followed the tour back out the door.

"This is definitely a Willow kind of thing." Buffy and Cordelia were quickly getting bored with the long speeches the tour guides were giving at each and every building.

After viewing a couple of old houses and slave cabins, they finally approached the main house. As the guides led them around a huge magnolia tree, Buffy abruptly stopped causing Cordelia to bump into her.

"God, Buffy! Some brake lights would be nice!" she sounded mad, but she was really just teasing.

"This is it!" Buffy looked around her at the elaborate flower garden that was on both sides of the path leading to the main plantation house.

"What are you talking about?" the May Queen hissed as she smiled at the other members of the tour group who were sending her and Buffy weird looks.

"This is the house from my dreams!" the Slayer told her.

Both girls feel silent as they stared up at the huge house looming over them.

"This is the Dickey Plantation House." Rachel told them, "It was built in the 1840's in a town called Dickey, near Albany, Ga. It was occupied by descendants of the original owners until it was moved here in 1961."

"Well, this concludes the tour of the Stone Mountain Antebellum Plantation! Feel free to look around on your own for as long as you want." Jeff told them and then headed back to the entrance.

Before Rachel could leave, Buffy and Cordelia stopped her. "We were wondering just how much you knew about the original owners of the Dick house?" Buffy asked her.

"That's Dickey house." she corrected, then shrugged her shoulders. "This is my first week working here, I really only know what I was told to memorize. But if you go in and look around the house, you might find some stuff posted on the walls about the Davis family. Just watch out for the ghost!" the girl smiled at them before following Jeff back to the entrance to start the next tour.

The girls turned and looked at each other, "Ghost?"

As Buffy and Cordelia ascended the stairs to the front door of the house, the Slayer shuddered at the vivid memory of her dream. Cautiously, she opened the front door, and was relieved at the cool air that greeted her.

"Well, at least it's air conditioned." she told Cordy before entering all the way.

"That's funny, Jeff had said that none of the buildings had air yet." The door shut behind them with a loud bang, causing the girls to jump. The old house creaked and groaned loudly causing the girls to stop and look at each other.

"You know, Buffy, we're not exactly being fair to everyone else."

"You're right! We should definitely share this adventure with them!"

"Yeah, let's go get them!"

"You're scared?" Spike was laughing at them.

"NO!" "YES!", Buffy and Cordelia answered at the same time. They glared at each other.

"Yes, I am scared! I'm not Super-woman, like her. I can barley deal with vampires, I don't want to take on any ghosts!" Cordelia told them, "I have never had a good experience where a ghost is concerned!"

Buffy just rolled her eyes, "C'mon Cordy. Rachel was just trying to scare us! Besides, don't you live with a ghost? "

"Well, never fear ladies! Angelus and I would be happy to escort you back to the haunted house!" Spike patted Buffy's hand mockingly, "Don't worry luv, I'll protect you from the big bad ghost."

"Ghost? What ghost?" asked a very interested redhead from the doorway.

"Don't you people ever knock?" Spike scowled at Willow.

The witch ignored him, asking again, "What ghost?"

After filling everyone in on Buffy's "dream house" , the gang decided that they would all go check it out after sundown.

"Elizabeth Abigail Davis, now why does that sound familiar?" Giles asked no one in particular, as he walked with the rest of the group toward the plantation.

"Her brothers and sister called her Libby in my dream." Buffy offered.

"Libby Davis! Yes, of course. She was a slayer." the ex-watcher now had everyone's attention, but didn't realize it, lost in his thoughts.

"Uh, Giles?"

"Huh?"

"What about Libby Davis?!" Buffy practically yelled. Giles was always willing to give you information except when you needed it, then it was like pulling teeth.

"Oh, right. So sorry. Um, it's quite a sad story actually. She was killed the day she was called."

"Bummer." Xander expressed what they were all feeling.

Finally the group reached the Dickey house, and stopped.

Spike looked around at the others and saw that they had frozen, fear evident on their faces. Dramatically rolling his eyes, the blonde vampire marched up the front stairs and headed for the door, which had been propped open.

Everyone laughed as the impetuous vampire, lacking an invitation, bounced off the invisible barrier and landed flat on his back. This incident helped the others to push aside their fear as they slowly began making their way to the door. Buffy entered first and invited Spike and Angel inside. Once the vampires crossed the threshold, the house went crazy!

A strong wind came out of nowhere and slammed the door in Cordelia's face. She, and the others, tried to open the door again, but it wouldn't budge. Cordelia, Anya, Xander, Giles, Willow, and Tara looked helplessly at the dark old house unsure of what to do.

It was a quiet and peaceful night outside the house. Inside was another story. First off, it was freezing. Buffy had wrapped her arms around her waist while observing the chaos around her.

An unseen force was throwing objects around the house. It looked like a tornado had formed in the front hall. Curiously, none of the flying objects went near Buffy.

The Slayer watched as Spike and Angel were pelted by all kinds of objects and debris. Spike yelped as a tree branch embedded itself into his chest missing his heart by a matter of inches.

"That is enough!" Buffy yelled as she threw herself in front of the vampires. Her anger at seeing Spike's close call replaced any fear that she'd had. She was the Slayer, after all, and no one was going to mess with her vampires!

A knife that had been headed for Spike, stopped in mid-air about an inch and a half from her nose, then dropped to the ground. It was eerily quite as the ghost of Libby Davis began to materialize about 4 feet in front of Buffy.

"How dare you bring vampires into my house!" the ghost hissed.

All three stood speechless before her.

Outside the house, Willow and Tara held hands and began to chant intently.

"It's an exorcism.'" Giles whispered to the others.

"I hope it works." Cordelia told him. "Remember the one we tried at school?"

"I've sent you dreams of my life to show how happy I was! A monster, just like those two, took my life before I could do anything! My last thought was that another would replace me and kill the creatures that had killed me and my family. For years, slayer after slayer has done just that. Killed every vampire that they have ever come across. But you, you have fallen in love with two of them! Two monsters that have maimed, tortured, and killed thousands of innocent people. You are undeserving of the title Slayer!" the ghost spat at her.

"Now, wait a minute! You have no idea what you're talking about!" Buffy shouted at her.

"Oh don't I? Tell you what, sSayer, I'll give you a choice." the ghost began. A stake appeared in Buffy's hand.

"You kill these vampires, and I'll let you walk out of this house. If not, I'll kill all three of you, and Buffy, then you can be trapped here in this house while your loves burn in Hell!"

Buffy threw down the stake like it was a snake.

"Very well, you've made your choice!" the ghost began to laugh then stopped when she felt a sharp tug.

"No, wait! I'm not done yet!" the ghost yelled to some unseen force as she was pulled toward the back door.

"I'm not going alone!" she yelled and was somehow able to grab hold of Spike.

"Well, Slayer, your lover and I are going to watch the sun rise!" the ghost cackled as she and Spike were whisked away, the back door slamming shut behind them.

"No!!" Buffy yelled and started pulling on the door, it wouldn't budge. She let out a frustrated yell before turning to look at Angel. He nodded at her and they both turned toward the front door, which now opened easily, and ran pass their bewildered friends in the direction that Spike had gone.

"Does anybody else fell like they missed something?" Xander asked as he watched Buffy and Angel running off in the distance.

"Did our spell work?" Willow asked. Giles just shrugged and started to run after his slayer. The rest of the gang looked at each other, then reluctantly began to follow him.

Buffy's legs felt like rubber as she ran through the dark woods. Angel kept pace beside her nervously glancing over his shoulder to the east where the sun would soon begin it's ascent.

Finally they reached a clearing. It was a wide-open field, and Buffy thought she could make out a figure lying on the ground far off in the very center. She turned questioning eyes to Angel as he abruptly stopped.

"It's him." Angel confirmed.

"Then let's go!" Buffy said.

"I can't. The sun is coming up. Buffy, there is no way you'll get him under cover in time." He said the last part to thin air as the Slayer took off across the field. Angel watched helplessly from the cover of the dense trees around him.

"Spike!" Buffy yelled as she finally reached him. He slowly opened eyes and smiled up at her. He loved her so much, and he told her so.

"I love you too, Spike. Oh, God, don't leave me now! I just found you!" she cradled his head in her lap, tears spilling out of her eyes and onto his face.

"Oh, Buffy, I'd rather have had this one week with your love than the rest of eternity without it." he pulled her mouth down to his as the sun crested over the horizon.

"Angel! What happened?" Giles gasped out as he finally caught up to the dark-haired vampire. Angel couldn't answer him, tears of blood rolling down his face.

When Buffy felt the warm rays of the sun on her arms and legs, she clung tighter to Spike. Then she pulled away as she realized that he was still there to cling to.

"Hey, come back here!" he tried to pull her back to him.

"Spike! You're in the sun! You're in the sun and you're still here." she exclaimed.

"What?!" his eyes flew open and he looked at the rising sun in the East.

"Cor, luv I'd forgotten how beautiful it was." Spike stared in awe at how the sun made Buffy's hair shine.

"Almost as beautiful as you." Then he captured her lips for another kiss, pulling her down, and rolling on top of her.

"Ugh! Can't you two get a room?!" Cordelia said grinning from ear to ear. Then she laughed as Spike pulled her down with them, making kissing noises in her ear. The whole gang laughed as they watched the display.

"What is it with vampires?" Xander asked aloud.

"Haven't you heard, mate? We're the best kissers there are! Care to see for yourself?" Spike waggled his eyebrows at the boy suggestively. "Oh, no!" Xander paled, then he took off running as Spike let his vampire face come out and said, "Come give us a kiss!"

Buffy playfully slapped Spike's arm, and he immediately let his human face come back on. They kissed again and got several groans from the gang.

Cordelia looked toward the trees where Angel stood watching. He was both relieved and jealous at seeing his childe in the sunlight.

Cordelia walked toward him knowing that he must be feeling left out. She held out her arms to him and he came willingly. She sighed and rested her head on his chest. Soon the two of them would be returning to their own world, away from their friends playing in the sun. Angel rested his head on top of Cordelia's, and smiled as he thought about a day, hopefully soon, that he would be able to join them in the sun. Until then, he would be content to watch from a distance.
