When gas prices went over $3.50/gal I started looking for ways to
increase my cars gas mileage. Most of the gasoline additives gave little or no
savings because of the cost of the product offsetting the gas savings. All of
the gas saving gizmos that the EPA tested were deemed ineffective. Hydrogen
Boosting showed some promise and so I made one for my car and tested it to find
out that it didn't work. In the midst of that testing I also tried out a device
that applies some of the intake manifold vacuum to the carburetors float
bowl. Surprisingly, it worked! I saved 22% gasoline usage. But it caused the car
to idle terribly until I created an electronic controller to only turn it on
after the car is warmed up and above a certain engine rpm. But this gas saver
only works on older cars with a carburetor instead of electronic fuel injection.
