Welcome to Psilocybe Scotland!

The only site on the internet dedicated to :

It must be stressed that all information given on this site is for informational purposes only, although posession of fresh psilocybe mushrooms is not technically illegal in Scotland, anyone who is caught with any 'preparation' i.e. dried mushrooms can face tough legal action.  Furthermore, the webmaster cannot and will not accept any responsibility for any harm that may come to people who mis/use any information provided.  In summary dont go picking psilocybe mushrooms unless you really know what you are doing, you could end up endangering your wellbeing (if not your life).  In addition, please do not carry out anything suggested within these pages if such an action is illegal in your area.

Sorry about that, but we've got to keep things legal!

Anyway, lets get on with it!  This site is dedicated primarily to the psilocybe semilanceata mushroom - which is found extensively throughout Scotland from the autumn until early winter.  The reason we concentrate on this species is because they are so common in Scotland.   However, this is where you come in.  If there have been any psilocybe finds (of any psilocybe species) then we would love if you could email us with details of the environment in which you found them (not the exact location, a 'between St Andrews and Cupar' would suffice) i.e. "near a pine forest in long grass, a day after heavy rain".  If you include photo's of your find we will also publish them on these pages (see the location map page).

Many thanks to an anonymous email - telling me that there has recently been a find of Psilocybe Cyan. in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh.  McShroom is awaiting   a reference for this find and will post details as soon as he finds them!

This information will also be used to improve our field guide - most others on the internet are dedicated to the finding of Psilocybe Cubensis variety found in America!

I hope you enjoy, and continue to use this site - remember to email me details of any succesful trips (no pun intended) and indeed of any failures so that we can all keep track of events, and keep this site up to date!

If anyone would be interested in startting a similar site for somewhere else in the UK then I would be more than happy to help you start out!  Contact me for more details!
