Throughout everyone's life there comes a time when you have to have something to fall back on. For some it's religion, for others, a good friend, or for some it's something as simple as a good book and a comfortable chair. But for me nothing brings me out of the blues quite like the Smoky Mountains. No matter how hard life gets, or how hard others try to bring me down I'll always have someplace to go that will bring me back up again. Anyone who has had the privilege to make the trip to the smokies will know what I mean. For those of you that have made the special effort to roll yourselves out of bed before dawn and make the trip to Newfound Gap in time to catch the sunrise you will know what magic this place truly possesses. For those of you that have made the small effort to pull your car off the road, get out and just sit beside the stream and do nothing, you will find a inner peace that you can find nowhere else. I have my own special place that I love to go to. (No I won't tell you where it is. You'll have to find your own place). It's just a short hike form one of the main roads and is within ear range of a small soothing stream. From there I can sit on a rock with my back leaning against a tree and watch the mist rise up from the valley below ont it's journey back to the mountain tops. If ever there was a heaven on Earth, I have found it here.
