This page is solely dedicated to my taxidermy hobby. I have enlargable thumbnail photos of my work and helpful tips on how to help preserve your memories.

The Proper Care for Your Trophy What do you do when you catch a trophy fish. My advise is to take a Photograph and measurements of your fish, then gentle turn your fish loose and let him be caught again. Many taxidermist can now do fiberglass or graphite reproductions that look just as good as the original fish that you had caught. By having a reproduction of your fish done you not only immortalize it forever but you will also be able to have the satisfaction of knowing that your trophy fish is still out there somewhere spawning and spreading the genes that made it the size it is to its young. Now wouldn't it be more fun to possibly catch that fish again next year, when it is even larger still. But realistically not everyone is willing to pay the extra cost involved in having a reproduction done.

So here are some hints that will help preserve your trophy until the time comes to have it mounted.

It is always helpful to have a color photograph of your fish taken as soon after you catch it as possible.

Keep your fish on ice or alive in the live well until it can be frozen.

Never put your fish on a stringer. That is just one more damaged area that will have to be repaired.

Don't let the fish thrash around, this will result in damaged scales.

Wrap the fish in a wet towel and freeze it as soon as possible.

As soon as possible take your fish along with your photograph to your Taxidermist.
