The Cape Charles 18 is an 18 foot long hard chine sea kayak with a 25 inch beam. Its huge volume can support a great deal of gear along with its paddler. The boat is built using okoume plywood. Okuome is a plantation grown African hardwood also known as gaboon. The Cape Charles is designed by Chesapeake Light Craft, Inc. and with care can be built into a beautiful boat. The design features 2 watertight hatches, bungee deck rigging, carrying handles, a fiberglass covered hull which can be painted a light color in order to minimize sun damage, and a handsomely grained deck with a natural finish.

The Cape Charles has been phased out in favor of the similar Chesapeake model, but can still be found in Chesapeake Light Craft's plans archives.
