What is Sigma Alpha Iota?

Sigma Alpha Iota is an international music fraternity
for women. It is an organization whose purposes are
to foster interest in music.  Founded in 1903, at the
University School of Music in Ann Arbor, Michigan, 
Sigma Alpha Iota has nearly 100,000 initiated 
members.  Beta Iota has been an active chapter on 
the campus of Northwestern State University for 51
years as of May 2001.

How Can You Help?

You can help by donating instruments or supplies that 
are not being used. Supplies may include but are not
limited to method books,music stands, metronomes, tuners, or anything else that a band, orchestra, or choir program could find useful.  If you do not have any of these
items, you may still make a monetary donation. All 100%
of the proceeds will go to a needy music program in the 
state of Louisiana.

What is Making Music Possible?

Making Music Possible was a project started
by the executive board of Beta Iota chapter
in August of 2000. The goal of Beta Iota chapter 
in the Making Music Possible Drive is to 
assist a public school music program by providing 
them with instruments, money, and music supplies.
Who Benefits?

The past two years donations went to Natchitoches Central
High School Band, Natchitoches Junior High 
Orchestra, and Lakeview High School music program.

Donations may be shipped or dropped off at the Northwestern State University Music Building across
from the Theater West Building. When dropping off donations please let the office know that they should be held for  "Sigma Alpha Iota's Making Music Possible."
