Personal Information
Like I said already, my name is Andreea, and I am a undergraduate student at Washington University. I am originally from Romania, and I moved here to the United States with my family over seven years ago.  Aside from my parents, my brother, and more recently my cousins and aunt and uncle, all my other relatives are still back in Romania.  As you can well imagine, I miss them, as well as my country, tremendously.  I go to visit once in a while, but not quite often enough, as there are time and financial constraints that render that impossible.  However, every time that I do go back, I am very glad to see my family, and we always have a blast.
When I first moved to the United States, it was quite an experience...My brother and I got off that plane at JFK airport scared and anxious as to what to expect.  Our parents picked us up at the airport (the had already arrived to the United States previously), and they drove us to our new "home", not far from the airport, in a small suburb of Long Island.  There was to be the beginning of my life in the United States.  Ever since then, I've grown up, I've matured, and I think I've mastered the English language all right (especially considering I only spoke a few words when I first got here).  There in that part of Long Island, I went to a public high school named Sanford H. Calhoun High School (in Merrick), where I learned various tidbits of information--some useful, some not.  Nevertheless, I did pretty well, and as I applied to different universities, I was accepted to Washington University in St. Louis (where I had applied Early decision).  I immediately decided to go there, and without even visiting the university, came to St. Louis on a summer program and stayed here thereafter.
Now here I am in St. Louis, trying to keep myself busy during my senior year of college.  Even though the courseload is overwhelming right now, I still try to enjoy my life and have fun once in a while.  My favorite pasttimes include going to the movies, reading poetry and fiction, watching my soap operas (One Life to Live and General Hospital, both on ABC), ice skating, swimming, and spending time with my friends (very few of which are here in St. Louis).   I also really enjoy travelling, something that I don't get to do all that often, because of time and especially financial constraints.  Still, every vacation I get to go back to New York, and sometimes I even get to go to Los Angeles, which has become one of my favorite places in the world (not only because it is nice and sunny, but also because of the palm trees and the various actors found there, movies produced there, etc.).  My friends there and I always have loads of fun whenever I go there, although my stays there are usually short.  I hope to go back there soon, and get away from this bitter cold weather that's here (as well as in NY, I am sure).
Still, despite the fact that I prefer sunny California over St. Louis, Missouri, I have grown to like this town full of parks and great outdoor activities.  I also have made very few, but very wonderful friends here....Thus, I wouldn't trade the experience I have had here so far for anything in the world.
