Dispatch

Possibly the police and fire dispatch offices were combined in 1999. There was some controversey regarding the hiring of the Mayor's relatives to work in the new dispatch center.

Previously, 1 or 2 fire alarm operator's were on duty at the Fire Alarm Office at ?Station 4 on Ferry St. A Class B telegraph system is used (operators have to retransmit boxes that are received). Most dispatching is done via the Vocalarms in the stations. (Vocalarms are loudspeakers in the fire stations that are connected via wires to the dispatch center). Starting around 1990, all dispatchs are being done via 154.31.

All calls are announced on 154.31. For example - "Attention Everett Fire Dept, Attention Everett Fire Department, Engine 4 and Ladder 3 are responding to a car fire at 37 Ferry St. Engine 4 and Ladder 3 are responding to a car fire at 37 Ferry St. KCH424 at 1027 hours."

As of 26 October 2000, Cataldo ambulances are now using 154.31 when they respond to 911 calls in Everett. 21Sept00 - police units do not respond to all EMS calls.

20Dec00 - see the city website - has info on 911 Center - is located at the old Fire Alarm Office - apprently police and fire dispatch offices were merged into a 911 combined police/fire dispatch center in 1999
