The Members of The Titan Brass


Scott Taylor, trumpet, began studying music at an early age. He was originally trained as a guitarist of all genres in grade school and began playing the trumpet in middle school. After studying with Wayne Robbins and attending the Governor's School for the Arts in 1996, Scott began studying with Charles Decker and performed with the All-State Band and Jazz Band. He spent the next summer at Interlochen before joining the Nashville Youth Symphony as rotating principal trumpet. He is currently a music performance major at The Florida State University where he studies with Bryan Goff. In addition to his performance schedule with The Titan Brass, he has recently appeared as lead trumpet in Salsa Florida, solo trumpet in the Millenium Ensemble, and at the Mobile Jazz Festival and the National Trumpet Competition. Scott also recently presented Eric Ewazen's "Sonata for Trumpet and Piano" in a performance for the composer. He has performed in the Late Night Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Opera Orchestra, and USO. He also appears frequently throughout the community in many different performance settings.

Gavin Reed
, horn, is a performance major at FSU where he studies with Michelle Stebleton. A native of sunny Pensacola, he has studied with Tony Chiarito and Portia Ashman and worked in lessons and masterclasses with Barry Tuckwell, David Ohanian, John Cerminaro, Jim Thatcher, Kendall Betts, Randy Gardner, Michael Hatfield, and Soichiro Ohno. Gavin received his initial exposure to music through his parents, both musicians, and from singing in numerous choirs and boy choirs. At FSU, he has been a member of the FSU Symphony Orchestra, the Symphonic Band , and the Chamber Orchestra. Gavin attended the Kendall Betts Horn Camp in the summer of 1999. He is very proud of his new camera and will be documenting the groups trip overseas with much fervor.

Michael Hudson
, trombone, is a music performance major at Florida State where he studies with Dr. John Drew. An Orlando native, he has previously held principal trombone positions in the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Florida All-State Orchestra in Tampa. In the summer of 1997, Michael toured with the FSYO to Australia and performed in the Sydney Opera House. He attended the Summit Brass Institute in Tempe, AZ earlier that summer where he studied with Milton Stevens, Michael Mulcahy, and Larry Zalkind. Mike has performed with the Symphonic Band, Sacbut Society, and Opera Orchestra at FSU. Mike also loves to swallow semen, preferably a gallon at a time.

William Jagnow
, tuba, is a student of Paul Ebbers and hails from Lombard, Ill. Bill is a performance major at FSU and has been a member of the Wind Orchestra and principal tuba in the Symphonic Band. He has previously held the position of principal tuba in the Illinois All-State Honor Band. Bill played kicker and tailback for the Glenbard East Rams while in high school. He has studied with Micky Wrobleski of the Chicago Civic Orchestra and Gene Pokorny of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Bill recently gave a recital perfomance with Wrobleski in Chicago.

Jonathan Ford
, trumpet, is a former rotating principal trumpet of the Nashville Youth Symphony. His initial musical training was on the piano and through participation in boy choirs. A native of Pulaski, TN, he has studied with Al Cheatham, Bibi Black, Patrick McGuffey, Steve Patrick, and Bryan Goff ever since beginning trumpet in the 4th grade. Jonathan attended the Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts in 1996 and performed in the All-State Band and Orchestra throughout high school. He attended the Interlochen Arts Camp in 1997, where he was a member of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra and also performed the bugle calls for the High School Boys Division. Jonathan won ITG Conference Scholarships in 1999 and 2000 and competed at the National Trumpet Competition in 1999. He is a performance major and has been a frequent member of the FSU Symphony Orchestra, Opera Orchestra and Symphonic Band. What most distinguishes Jonathan is his deeply-rooted love for Christ and his undying devotion to the Gospel.
