Estonia is a small nation on the northeast coast of the Baltic Sea with a long and turbulent history. Owing to its strategic position between the great powers of western and wastern Europe, Estonia has been the site of many destructive and divisive struggles and conflicts. As a result of this struggles the nation has a long history of outward migration. Today there are Estonians and people of Estonian descent scattered all over the world.
This homepage began life as a research project for a North American historical geography course at Central Missouri State University. So please forgive the current North American slant of the site. It is still in its infancy and comments, questions, suggestions, corrections and additions are cheerfully sought. Thank you for your interest.
