PAUL VAN NESS
Paul Van Ness graduated the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and has studied additionally at the Hochschule fuer musik in Munich, Germany and at the "Academie Maurice Ravel" in France. His teachers include Eugene List, Orazio Frugoni, Ludwig Hoffman and Gaby Casadesus. Paul Van Ness is currently Professor and Chairman of the Keyboard Program at California State University, Los Angeles, where he has been on the faculty since 1976. He is well-known internationally as both teacher and performer, having toured repeatedly in Europe and Asia as well as in North America over the past twenty five years. In Europe, Professor Van Ness has played with orchestras in Germany, France and Bulgaria, and has given solo recitals in many cities, including Vienna, Warsaw, Munich, Vicenza and Varna. He is particularly known for his entertaining and informative master classes and has presented these at some of the great music schools and important festivals (Vienna, Prague, Dresden, Varna, etc.). In the Summer of 1994, Professor Van Ness first appeared in Plovdiv with the Youth Orchestra "Plovdiv", Nayden Todorov conductor, in a performance of the Bach D minor Keyboard Concerto.
