Through a Lens Darkly/Macau Pages

Macau. Macau is more than a place, it is an idea born of centuries past... we might say that it is an imagined place, peopled by opaque penumbras and liquid apparitions. But, the city does exist on the periphery of China both geographically and spiritually. Often forgotten and seldom spoken about, it has thrived in this unique dialectical and intermediate position. It has been fashioned by the hands and nourished by the sweat of many peoples through the course of several centuries. With the silting of the harbor, its face and people have changed. It was once called the "Venice of the Far East," today some call it a languishing "Monte Carlo of the Orient." Is there more to Macau than this?

Many paths have taken you here and your motives for travel are many, click on a door - any one will do - for a view of this mosaic of experiences that is Macau.
