Kaitou Heart

(Written by Maron)

Milky Way is my first name, but everybody calls me Way. I didn't like how you spelt Way, because if someone were talking to me they might say... "It's that way Way." And it sounded a little strange. So I changed regular Way to... Wei (still pronounced like Way). Now, everyone calls me Wei, and I like it better. This is the story of my life - how I became Kaitou Heart, and my adventures... (Kaitou is Japanese for theif)

I lived in the little city of Tokyo for a long time. I went to school there and made a lot of friends. Life was great, well, mostly. You see, I had a secret that no one knew about. Where I was younger, I lived with my parents. I loved them a lot and wished I could stay with them forever. I was at home one day, and mom started crying. "What's wrong?" I asked. She didn't answer. Then I had figured it out. Mom and Dad were moving to Britain, and had to leave me here, but in the process of moving, they were also getting divorced. I was to stay at home, and when I had earned enough money, I could move out and find an apartment for myself, which I eventually did.

When I moved into my new apartment, a glow caught my eye. I went over and saw a small fairy, about the height of one and a half pencils. "Hello. My name is Hana Blossom, but you can call my Hana. You must be Milky Way?" she said.

I thought she must have been mistaken, for what kind of a fairy would be looking for me? "Wes, I'm Milky Way." I said, without thinking.

"Good. I am a messenger of God. I was told to come here, and give you a special gift. A secret gift. I am going to give you a secret gift. I am going to give you the powers of Kaitou Heart."

"Kite who? What is this? Some kind of joke?" This was strange, I thought.

"This is no joke. You are destined to be Kaitou Heart, a young girl with special abilities to transform and save people from becoming possessed by evil. This is how it works. While you are at school, I look for people that are possessed by the devil through an object. When you come home from school, I tell you about the people that I saw and you send out a message to Tokyo telling them that you will "steal" that very object. Then, you transform into Kaitou Heart, and use your special powers to get past the police, as well as to defeat the devil by "stealing" the object.

"The problem is, once you defeat the devil, the object is gone forever, and you can never retrieve it again. Please be careful on your journey. If you need any help, I will be here for you, almost like your mom, except no one else can see me except you. I'd like to warn you though; there are evil people out there, so just beware! Here is your heart that you can use to transform into Kaitou Heart."

And that's how it all began...

The next week was the first week of school. I met up with my best friend White Beauty ( we all call here White), and my other friend Jay. There was a new guy, Mountain Star (we just call him Star), who turned out to be my next-door neighbor. White seemed infatuated with him, and I seemed to like him, so we let him in our group. I think he's okay, he is kind of sweet and gentle. What am I talking about? I just met him, how can I like him without really knowing him?

So today, White and I went to the movies. Of course Jay and Star had to come along, but I didn't really mind. After watching the movies, we went for a walk in the park. I wanted to get to know Star a little better, so I asked White if she and Jay would walk together without us.

"So Star, where did you live before you came to Tokyo?" I asked.

"Um, well, I used to live in the United States, but my mother moved out because of business, and my dad owns a store here. So because my mom didn't want me to live with her, she made me go and live over here with my dad."

"Why didn't she want you to live with her?"

"She wanted me to get used to living on my own and be more independent. She thought that if I lived here with my dad, he would make me rent an apartment and live alone. But my mom was wrong, and instead my dad wanted me to live with him. I didn't want to because my dad was very cruel to me when I was younger, so I did what I thought would be the best for me, which was renting an apartment."

He looked sad, so I tried to change the subject. "What's the name of your dad's store?"

"Antiques in all sizes. It's a family business, which my great-grandpa started. It's been running in the family ever since."

"How come you don't want to work there?"

"I'm not interested in antiques. When I grow up, I want to live in a nice house, have my own family, and well, I'm not really sure about an occupation yet."

"When I was younger, my mom used to tell me stories about how she dreamt of being a chef. Her mom said that she couldn't be a chef, and my mom ran away from home before my grandma could control her life." I said.

"How come you don't live with your mom?"

"My mom moved to the US a long time ago, hoping to find a job as chef. My dad went with her. But when they were there, things weren't going too well. My mom wasn't making enough money to support my family, and my dad didn't want to have to put up with giving his money away to my mom, so they divorced. I haven't talked to any of them since then, and I feel as if I was just left behind."

Memories came flooding back to my mind, and my eyes started to water. Star saw that I was sad. I was embarrassed, but he didn't seem to care. He seemed almost loving. And I think I was starting to like him then.

"Why don't I take you for an ice cream? It's not too far of a walk."
he offered.

"That's a good idea. We might meet up with White and Jay. They sure do have big appetites!" We both laughed and raced to ice cream truck. I ordered a small strawberry, and he ordered the same. I guess we both have two things in common so far... we don't live with our parents and.... we have STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM! (lol)
