Going Up

It's been a long way uphill for me to reach this town
And I was hoping that you'd be here
But as I look around, you're nowhere to be found
Seems I was coming up while you were going down.

You used to talk a lot to me in tongues I didn't know
But one thing came through, you said you'd be here
And I know it's not like you, but I kind of understand
As I was coming up, you were going down

Cos I remember long ago in another time and place
When you stood in awe of the mysteries I knew
And I stood so high above you, and looked so proud
When you started coming up, and I started going down

I spoke to you of love, and what did I know?
But you tried so hard to master the sounds
And I let my pride take me on a long hard road
Where you were coming up while I was going down

One day I'm hoping, that together we'll be bound
On a road that leads right to the sun
And we will understand the meaning of love
Together going up, instead of going down
