"Do unto others as you would want them to do onto you." -Luke 6:31 For those of you who've never read the Bible (or can't quote it word-for-word, at least), those are the words of the Big Cheese himself, Jesus Christ. Even if you're not a Christian (which I know full well that many aren't), they're still pretty damn good words to live by. If onyl because if you treat people like shit, then eventually it'll come back and bite you in the ass. Hard. Now, all religions have them, but the hypocrites seem to flock to Christianity more than any other. Maybe because they figure they can sin all they want and use Jesus as a "Get Out of Hell Free" card. Needless to say, that's not the way it works, but we'll ignore that for right now. The worst type of hypocrisy is the Christians that will take you to task over saying "hell" (and Heaven help you if you should say "fuck" or "goddamn"), yet treat their fellow man like garbage. These are the same morons that, a thousand or so years ago, were helping the Inquisitors hunt down heathens and witches so that they could shatter their arms and legs with hammers and weave their broken limbs into gigantic wheels. This is especially true in the South, where I live. "Christians" here will thump their bibles, command you to go the church, and quote line and verse from the gospels while in the same breath pledging their hatred for the "niggers" and the "fags". Why, even preachers stand up on the pulpit, and scream about hellfire and brimstone, and how those who do not "repent" (that is, agree exactly with what they're saying) will burn in eternal damnation. These people will even outright murder someone in the name of Jesus (who was, by the way, a pacifist), because perhaps they have a differing sexual preference. There's a quote from the same Bible that these people claim to revere, one from Jesus himself when he was asked the way unto heaven. Jesus said two things: to love God, and to love thy neighbor like thyself. Not to kill him in cold blood, not to abuse her because she is different, but TO LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF. In other words, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The Golden Rule. If you don't want to be killed for being straight, don't kill someone else for being gay. If you don't want to be tormented for your religion, don't do so to those who are unwilling to listen. Remember, what goes around, comes around ... either in this life, or the next. This isn't meant to be a sermon, and it isn't. I could care less if whether you're Baptist or Catholic, Hindu or Taoist, whether you worship Jesus or Allah or Yog-Sothoth. But the fact of the matter is, if you're going to preach it, make sure you practice it as well. Stay Hungry. ---The Anarkist
