Abortion - The Ultimate Non-Issue Ask anyone what they consider to be the most important issue of our time and you'll get a lot of different answers; prayer in schools, corporate control in Washington, how much Beast Wars sucked ass. But more than likely, the majority of the people you ask will site abortion as, if not #1, pretty damn high on their list of priorities. I'm fairly certain that the only reason that Bush is allowed to bring his mass-murdering ass to work every day is because he claims to be anti-abortion (note that I said claims--this'll be important later). Well, that and the fact that natural selection's been denied the ability to take its course and the country is 99% full of idiots. But I digress. The bottom line is, abortion is one topic that damn-near everyone has an opinion on. Nearly everyone gets pissed off when you mention it--the pro-lifers start to develop weird-ass facial tics and start foaming at the mouth and the pro-choicers always wind up on self-righteous speech about how they're protecting the right of a woman's to decide what goes on in her body. I, too, have an opinion about it, but what I believe has nothing to do with this. The fact is, no matter how many idiotic preachers rant on their pulpits and how many signs the pro-lifers wave and how many abortion clinics they blow up, abortion rights in America ain't going anywhere. Y'know how venemous the pro-lifers are now? Well the pro-choicers will be every bit as bad if the Christian Coalition gets their way. The politicians know this, and they know how crazy the pro-lifers are. And that's the key to the whole damn thing. When you come right down to it, voting Republican because they're pro-life or Democrat because they're pro-choice is every bit as rediculous as voting based on who has the hotter daughter. The best-kept secret about the abortion issue is what I just told you; that it's NOT AN ISSUE AT ALL. Even if they COULD get rid of it, they wouldn't. Because each side plays lip service in an attempt to get this vote or that vote. And the pro-lifers and pro-choicers are all so wrapped up in this non-issue that they completely ignore all the corruption going on in the system. It's all smoke and mirrors. For the Goddess' sake, the president SENT INNOCENT PEOPLE TO THEIR DEATHS. Not only that, he's so bought and paid for by the oil corporations that they may as well put a price tag on his ass. Yet that all got ignored ... all because the American people were dumb enough to be sucked into this screwjob. He's anti-abortion, therefore no matter how big of an idiot he is, no matter how much he'll screw up our country, he must be the right man for the job. As though I don't praise this guy enough on this site, I would like to point out that there's one politician who refused to play the abortion game because he knew that it was nothing but yet another veil the mainstream parties pull over the heads of the American people so they can keep shovelling money into their pork projects and buying booze for their alcoholic daughters so they can molest them while they're passed out in the reflecting pool. Wanna guess who it was? Damn sure wasn't Bush. I don't know what you think about abortion. Nor do I give a rat's ass. But please, for the love of Christ, Buddha, Pan, or whatever Higher Power you worship (or Nothing, if you happen to be atheistic), think about something OTHER than just which side they give lip service to in the elections of 2004.
