Character Profile: Brock
Brock is the Gym leader of Pewter City in both the pokemon GB game and the pokemon anime. Only in the anime, Brock joins up with Ash after being defeated by his Pikachu. Brock, as with all the characters except Ash, has very dynamic mood swings. He can go from cheery, to cynical, to gloating, to hot embarassed, to angry in the course of a minute.
When Ash first meets Brock, he finds that because Brock's father left to become a pokemon master and never came back, Brock has to take care of all his brothers and sisters (Lots!!). Brock would have left home long ago to join the pokemon league if his father would have came back. But when Ash first comes to pewter city, he meets a mysterious man that helps him supercharge Pikachu, and defeat Brock. That man reveals himself to be Brock's father at the end of the episode, so Brock decides to leave home and join up with Ash on his journey.
Brock's quest is to become the world's greatest pokemon breeder. He tells Ash when he first meets him that he actually doesn't like to fight with pokemon. He joins up with Ash to fulfill his dream.
