The Snow Day

I sighed as James bounced around me in an extra cheery mood. The snow was falling quickly and the sight of it brought back wonderful memories for me. I was glad that we didn't have to work that day. James was even happier because he had found two sleds in the closet of the old cabin we were staying in. He had been begging me to go sledding with him.

"Please Jess? Come on! Just for a little while." He pleaded.

"Oh alright," I agreed as I picked up the wooden sled, "but only for a little while."

He picked up the pink saucer sled and dashed out the door. I was forced to chase him. Meowth was curled up on the rug by the fire snoring. I decided not to wake him.

"Race you up the hill!" James called as he dashed to the top.

I chased after him, but he had been halfway up before I had even closed the cabin door. Finally I met him at the top.

"Jessie is a Slowpoke! Jessie is a Slowpoke!" James teased.

Poor boy. He never saw the well-aimed wooden sled. Wham! The sled made contact with James's head and he fell over in the snow. After regaining consciousness, he picked up the wooden sled and flung himself down the hill on it. One thing we hadn't taken into account was the small pond at the bottom of the hill. As I began to slide down on the pink saucer, I saw James splash into the pond. I realized that I would meet the same fate, so I braced myself. The saucer spun around and I found myself flying down the hill backwards. I let out a small scream as the sled picked up speed. At the bottom of the hill, James was lifting himself out of the pond when…BAM! My pink sled hit him with full force and I tumbled onto the snow. James fell back into the pond and I fished him out.

A short while later, I had lit a small fire and I could tell that James was feeling a great deal better and warmer.

"I'm freezing!" I whined. I never whine, but it was so cold.

"Yeah, well you didn't go swimming in that pond." James shivered.

"I'm just as cold as you are." I insisted.

"Or you will be." Said James with a sneaky grin on his face.

Before I could reply he was gone. It was getting dark out and James was no where to be found. Suddenly I felt a presence behind me, and the next thing I felt was a large mass of freezing snow dripping down my neck. I screeched in alarm and I began running around like a Doduo with its heads tangled up. I turned around to see James laughing in triumph. Stress marks covered my face as I picked up the largest amount of snow I could and flung it at him. A long snowball fight ensued and continued until I pinned him to the ground. Try as he did, he couldn't escape. I brushed back the strand of hair that constantly fell across his face and held a large snowball across his forehead.

"Brain freeze!" I giggled.

His eyes bulged and he squeaked as the cold snow trickled down his face. Then I kissed him. I'm not sure why I picked that moment, but I did. And he kissed me back. And we sat there kissing for a long time. And when we finally stopped, I gazed into his beautiful green eyes.

"I love you James." I said sweetly.

"I love you too Jessie." He replied.

He used this opportunity to pick up a large hand full of snow and slap it across my neck.

"James!" I screeched, "Why did you do that?!"

He began giggling like crazy, and soon I was giggling too. As the snow continued to fall, and the sun began to rise, we kissed again.
