Quatre seems to be a sweet, innocent, angelic little kid, but that's not all of him. He is no doubt physically weaker than the other pilots, but to operate a gundam you need a considerable amount of strength. He seems to have some sort of heart problem, and he calls it 'the Heart of Space'. Maybe because of his too-good nature, he feels other people's pain as well as his own. ( When Heero was blasted from a self-destructing Wing, Quatre said his heart hurts and felt Heero's pain as well.)
He is a brilliant military strategist, and has a way to manage people. While Heero just does things and goes "oh, I'll think about it when I get there," Quatre is analyzies his options and his enemies' options. Maybe that is because he is the only gundam pilot that does not operate alone. He has a whole crew of Maganacs to work with. (Quatre is sometimes annoyed that they tail him everywhere and give him no privacy, but he is too sweet to say anything to them.)
Quatre's father is a complete pacifist and strongly opposes his heir becoming a gundam pilot. (Note that the Winner family is very rich and owns quite a few resource satillites. They also have a say in what is to be done in the L4 colonies as they have funded the buliding of the colonies.) Quatre and his father have came to a breaking point whe Quatre has decide to pilot Gundam. Quatre believes that peace doesn't come on it own, you have to fight for it. But his father believes that peace comes without viloence. Still Quatre strongly believes he has made the right choice when he became a pilot.
