The first time I saw Sephiroth in motion I was awed. Can one man cause such destruction? Simply put... Yes. Sephiroth is definitly the best thing to come out of Square. He is also the best villain in any video game so far... I mean sure Magus from Chrono Trigger was cool in his own right, but I mean Sephiroth is just so amazing. Never has there been an enemy that could cause such insanity between friends. I mean hey, since it is your right to rule the world, might as well have some needless violence and mass destruction thrown in there.
Sephiroths history is basically unknown. I won't spoil who his mother and father are, but he believes his true mother is Jenova. On his trip to Nibelhiem (however you spell it), Seph found proof that he was some genetic monster, created by Shinra. He read up on the subject and went insane. The sense of power now flowed through him, no need for the humans he thought. The burning of Nibelhiem was his first act as on official "Bad Guy". Cloud tried his best to stop his hero but to no avail, when Sephiroth attacked Tifa though, Cloud took it upon himself to defeat Sephiroth and stop this carnage. That is what he did. Or so we thought.
Sephiroth somehow survived his demise, and now he knows his history. We first officially meet him when he drags Jenova out from the Shinra Tower. Jenova is said to be some being that crashed into earth and drained some energy frm the earth. Jenova is not an ancient as the game leads you to think. The closest thing you get to fighting with Sephiroth is during the flashback scene. It amazed me at first how Sephs attacks caused about 3,000 hp per hit. He has a collection of mastered materia, and combined with the Masamune sword, he is unstoppable. There is also more to know about Sephiroth, probably the most interesting fact is that the Seph we see is only one form. There are many different type of Sephiroth, some weak and some strong, but each have the bond of Jenova. The full explanation can be found below.
