Chapter 2

The one wearing Gambit’s face and body looked up and smiled ferally. He scanned the room and saw the betrayer, the one who wounded them. She was a threat and would be dealt with now. His eyes glowed red as he readied to attack.

Xavier sensed a dark disturbance from the Danger Room and scanned the X-Men. He found the source of the problem and his heart froze in fear and panic. He yelled, “Cerebro! Forcefield on Gambit, NOW!!”

Eyes glowing red, Gambit leapt at Rogue ready to kill her when a barrier suddenly appeared around him. Gambit slammed into the forcefield and landed on his feet. He gave a long animal-like howl of anger when his prey got away. His glowing red eyes never left Rogue.

Wolverine could smell the anger, the blood rage from Gambit and knew that whoever that was, it wasn’t Remy LeBeau. He also growled, something about him seemed familiar, but he couldn’t place it.

Rogue felt the blood from the cut on her neck and whispered, “What happened?”

Everyone, including a feral Gambit, turned and saw Professor Xavier enter the Danger Room. Xavier ignored the looks in the X-Men’s faces and walked over to the forcefield.

“You shouldn’t be out, Feral. Where is Remy?” Xavier asked calmly.

Something changed in Remy, his eyes stopped glowing and the color turned blue on white. But the ice-blue eyes were the eyes of a killer, of a man who enjoyed his work. He smiled and said, “You let us out, Xavier. Or rather, Onslaught let us out. I just took advantage of the situation.”

Xavier frowned. “Where is Remy, Nathaniel?”

“Gone,” Nathaniel smiled coldly. “He’s busy at the moment, may I take a message?”

“Professor, who is this?” Jean asked carefully. Scott put a soothing arm around her. “This is not Remy.”

“It’s a long story, Jean.” Xavier started.

“It’s not like I’m going anywhere. Besides, should we be the ones telling this story?” Nathaniel taunted. “Before you break their trust even more than Onslaught did?”

Xavier felt the barb but ignored it. “Very well, you explain.”
