Prologue

 

This is the new world, the world of darkness. In 1989, Akasha, queen of the vampires, initiated a coup, which gave vampires complete domination over the world. (It wasn’t very hard. All she did was threaten to destroy cable TV. Humanity lasted three minutes) Humans were able to remain in their jobs and occupations, but there were a few catches. First, vampires ranked above all humans, well, they were at the top of the food chain already. Also, vampires are to be supplied with fresh blood and any human is considered dinner. Nothing new there. By 1999, there were only eighty-six vampires left above the age of two hundred and most of them were carving out miniature kingdoms in various corners of the world. Unfortunately human assassination squads and normal means of attack proved unsuccessful. But Barney and the Teletubbies put up a good fight. They just couldn’t last against the recently vampirized Power Rangers.

 

In 1990, a vampire by name of Maximus D’Amour created a biogenetics company called GEM Co. in the United States. Although the public purpose was to find cures to human diseases using vampire DNA, the real purpose of the company was to create the perfect super-soldier, a human capable of taking on a vampire and destroying it. Most vampires thought that it was a bunch of nonsense, that it was impossible to create a human capable of destroying them. They were wrong…. sort of.
