Name: Ephie :B
Email address: Ssqueakers@aol.com ^o^
Character Name: Ooguchi Maemi. Let’s start out with her name. Maemi means “smile of truth.” I picked this because she’s quite frank with people and she likes to sit and look pretty for the cameras. ^o^ Now for the family name, Ooguchi…it actually started off as a joke while trying to find a name. XD;; It means “big complaint.” XD;; And while Maemi doesn’t complain so much as openly state what’s wrong with the picture, I thought it fit pretty well. As another note, the kanji used for her name could also mean “big mouth.” XD;; Also, Maemi <3 designer, and when you say her surname, it’s like saying “Oh! Gucci!” XD;;;;;;;;; It was too funny not to use. XB;;
Character Position: Sailor Star Healer. (stage on!) ^o^ Maemi is a third year at Chuo Gakuen.
Birthdate and Age: August 29, 18. Virgo, Sagittarius moon, Libra rising
Profile: These are the little tidbits that flesh out a character. You must answer all of the listed profile bits, but please feel free to also add more, such as favorite books, songs, classes, colors -- so forth. What is answered here doesn't matter nearly so much as why. You should have a why listed for everything. If you don't, we'll ask you to do it in a revise anyway, so you might as well do it the first time. ^^
Favorite:
Books: Best sellers. Maemi likes reading the new and popular books, that way she has something “cool” to talk about when it comes to literature. As far as genre goes, she tends to like fiction above anything else.
Music: While she enjoys some of the cute, upbeat pop songs of today, Maemi actually prefers something with a lot of piano, if not -just- piano. It’s just very relaxing to her yet very exciting at the same time.
Class: Health. She believes it has to do more with common sense with things to memorize here and there. Especially with her mother being a professional chef, it makes things like “nutrition” just that much easier for her. It also doesn’t hurt that her dad is a doctor, either. XD;;
Colors: Silver and Gold. Just the way that they sparkle and shine, there are no other colors that can come close. It’s either too grey or too yellow. They also tend to establish a sort of high rank even among other colors. ^__^;;
Food: Lobster. It’s kind of satisfying cracking open the hard exoskeleton to reach the soft and sweet meat inside. Plus, eating lobster is fun! XD You can’t tell me you’ve never messed around with the little pinchers before. :B
Flower: Maemi enjoys all flowers, especially yellow ones for some reason. Her favorites seem to be tulips, roses, and marigolds. (You know, “pocket full of posies” and all that.) ^o^
Least Favorite:
Music: Probably techno. She
doesn’t like the feeling she gets from music that all comes from a computer.
It’s just too fake. It’s not that she won’t listen to it,
it’s just her least favorite style.
Class: English and P.E. Like
the former host of her starseed, Maemi
doesn’t like getting all sweaty and overexert herself. She’d
could probably hold her own in a sport if she chose to put herself out
there, but why? Eew. >__> As for English…well, that’s just not her thing.
She doesn’t see herself ever using it in everyday conversation much less travel
to any English speaking countries, so why bother? They should just all learn to
speak Japanese when coming to
Color: Doesn’t have one. They are all her childrens. She loves them all! ^o^
Food: Peas. Doesn’t matter what kind: snow peas, snap peas, green peas, fried pea chips, she refuses to go near them. If there is some way to eat around them or pick them out, she might feel generous enough to do so, but she’ll try to pass if there’s a way around it.
Place: The beach. There’s seagulls, and sticky kids, and dirty sand, and cold salty water, and too many people walking around in that bikini…when they’re about 100 lbs. too big for it. X__x To top that all off, she always burns, because no one makes SPF high enough. ^__^;; No, it’s just not a very pleasant experience.
Likes:
Expensive: Wow, does she. Maemi likes showing “high status” by buying things that are designer or just quite expensive. Unfortunately for her, her allowance doesn’t always pay for a Prada bag. XD;; So she either has to settle for a lot less (Like “Prado”) or save up for a while. She enjoys walking around Ginza and at least buys something like candy just so she can walk around and show off a department store bag, even if it may be small.
Cute: Like the general Japanese public, Maemi can’t stand to be without something cute. She practically squeals with delight seeing national treasures such as Totoro, Pikachu, and even the ever popular Hello Kitty. Yee! And clothing with fuzzy puffballs and bright colors…oh yeah. She’s addicted to the cuteness. o__o
Piano: Being brought up in a well to do family, Maemi’s parents wanted her to learn an instrument, and Piano was the first choice. She enjoys tickling the ivories, and is pretty good due to much practice. Don’t ask her to compose anything, she’s a lost cause. She can’t get it past her mind that what she makes up is just extremely “retarded” and refuses to play anything that sounds thus. Maemi also enjoys listening to other pianists play, finding it quite relaxing.
Sitting Pretty: And she does a good job at it too. She likes showing herself off and have people take her picture on top of that. Maemi has quite a few rolls of film and picture albums not only of herself, but things she would like to buy. XD;;
R-e-s-p-e-c-t: Find out what it means to Maemi. o__o Though it would be nice if everyone loved her, Maemi is a little more down to earth than that and really could care less if they loved or hated her. (Though, as I said, it would be nice…) All she asks is for people to respect and honor her for who she is. Because it’s just kinda rude to shit talk, especially when you don’t even know her. I mean, seriously. u__u
Dislikes:
Not being noticed: Well, if Maemi takes lots of precious time to make herself presentable and downright cute to the general public, some people better take notice, dangit! She’s not exactly looking cute for her own health here. (Though that could be argued. ^__-) Nothing is worse than being “lost in a crowd” in a sense. If she spends so much time trying to stand out, why should her efforts be ignored with a passion? You know, even ignoring her with a passion is okay, because at least she knows you know she’s there and you’re just trying to pretend she’s not.
“Hotdogs and American Cheese”: Okay, this was the best example I could come up with. Maemi strongly dislikes anything similar to an American child’s diet of hotdogs and American cheese. It’s just gross and the taste gets really old really fast. She still enjoys getting things such as box lunches made by her mother, but things like Spam and more or less things consisting of a “broke food” diet just seems to have less appeal than something she would probably find at home. (I know this is a horrible way of explaining this, since the Japanese population pretty much eats the same diet more or less, from children to adult. ^__^;; I hope this isn’t as confusing as I think it’s turning out to be… o__o;;)
Physical Exertion: It’s not that she can’t, but more that she won’t. The clammy-ness your skin gets while getting sweaty, or how out of breath and “helpless” you feel when you’ve run forever is just something that can’t be dealt with. I’m not sure how she gets through PE classes, but she seemed to have made it this far, at any rate. She also never really liked Field Day when she was a kid. She was as average as the rest of the kids, she just didn’t want to do it, and usually tried to hide out under the bleachers. XD;;
Hobbies:
Sitting Pretty: As I mentioned before, she’s really good at doing this. ^__^ Especially when there’s a camera in front of her. o__o Maemi probably goes to get her picture taken at a studio about twice a year and always has a camera or Poloroid on hand. XD;; If she thinks she looks particularly good one morning, she’ll insist someone in her family take her picture before she hikes off to school. XD;;
Shopping: Maemi has this thing where she needs to go out and buy something, even if it’s not for her. If she were to have a job other than modeling, she would want to be someone’s professional shopper. She especially likes browsing, even if she’s not going to buy them now. But usually when shopping, she has to buy at least something, even if it’s from one of those egg machines. XD;; Maemi also is a really good bargain hunter and knows when there will be a sale.
Dispensing Her Advice: Not so much that she does this well, as she could probably say a lot of things in somewhat more constructive ways, but she just does this all the time. Not sure which outfit to buy? Hope you have some time, because Maemi will tell you what she thinks and why. It’s the why that kills people every time, because quite frankly, nobody really cares so much for her whys. Well, the hell with you. She also usually starts off conversations with “Can I give you a suggestion?” then go on about how something is completely wrong for them and how she thinks she can help, whether it be something they’re wearing, or what they’re eating. In all honest fact, she actually thinks she’s helping the common good. o__o
Description:
Hair: Maemi’s hair is a very light and fine grey. It’s cropped short and her bangs are often parted off to the side and lay in two distinctive chunks. Her hair frames her face nicely and curls in with the exception of the hair found at the base of her hairline on the nape of her neck, which delicately flips out.
Eyes: Her eyes are a faint shade of a yellowy-lime green, making them look almost as if they’re made of a light peridot. They’re also narrow and turn up slightly at the outer corners, which are accentuated by her lashes.
Skin: Light tan. Unfortunately for Maemi she either barely tans (if at all) or burns. o_o So it could probably be described as fair. ^__^;
Build: Short. Maemi probably stands around 5’ even, the most. She does have a nice figure, boasting a B or C cup, slim waist, and her backside isn’t exactly lacking either. ^__^;; So even though her stature may be small, she looks GOOD…and she knows it too. ^__- Boy, does she… o__o; She has a very confidant air around her and walks around with her chin held high and shows off her good posture. The only fault for her is she also looks a lot younger than she actually is. o__o Yes…young with a nice figure. X__x
Facial Features: Maemi has a very dry humor. Desert-like. So naturally, her expressions follow suit. A lot of times she has that sleepy, almost mischievous look about her face, and usually seems to be amused by many things. Her face is also very pretty, if not just extremely cute. This probably has to do with the fact that she normally looks about 4-6 years younger than she actually is. ^__^;; Thankfully for her, make up (when applied correctly) tends to add a few of those years back on. Also, when giving someone her “constructive criticism,” her face tends to scrunch in a little.
Usual Attire: She is nothing short of a “ganjiro.” ^__^ She likes wearing things very much in the now, in terms of fashion, and isn’t above anything that just looks downright cute. In fact, that’s a good word to describe her wardrobe. XD;; (Designer items are a big gold star in her book.) She also tends to go for the pale make-ups, favoring colors like light pink, silver, white, and the like. She feels it tends to make her look darker skinned than she already is. ^__^;; She also likes boots. Tall boots. Though she could do a good job of intimidating someone even with her vertically challenged height, pride for being short tends to only go so far (especially when your little sister is almost as tall as you are). Plus, platform boots are very much in the now. ^o^;; She also seems to dress not for the boys as she does for the girls. Maemi really wants her feminine peers to comment on how she looks more than she wants the male factor to be involved. They’re more of her rival anyhow.
Personality:
Meet Maemi. Maemi is also frank.
Meet Frank. o__o Maemi is a very open person and tends to be honest with her feelings, though she may not always show them to others. Actually, it’s probably one of the only things she doesn’t always feel the need to share with everyone, but more on that later. She thinks that people should tell it like it is. Yeah, the truth hurts, but sometimes not telling the truth hurts more. She’s also the type of person to frown greatly upon deception. She gives much respect and honesty to everyone else, she expects the same in return. She also seems to be finicky and somewhat exclusive in her choices of various things, which makes her come off a bit of a snob. XB
She’s also knows how people react to certain situations and somewhat knows ways in making sure said situations happen to get the results that benefit her. She knows what to say to give someone their smile of the day, but also knows how to really piss people off. It’s almost as if she has a remote control that she has to play and toy with people’s reactions or take on things. Maemi doesn’t use this to her advantage too often as they mostly happen beyond her control. They just happen without her even giving it a second thought as to why.
But it’s her complete honesty and confident attitude that makes her quite attractive to people. They see Maemi as being a very strong and independent person, and sometimes they leave her to be just that. Independent. So needless to say, Maemi doesn’t have many close friends as they either go to different high schools or she just scares them off with not hesitating to tell them that their new headband really is that ugly. o__o But with the family and friends she is close to, she’s really close to. They are her life and she will do what it takes to protect them, even if she comes off being a bitch. What does she care? She has quite the soft side for her close comrades and always tries to find a way to cheer them on, openly or not.
Maemi doesn’t tell people what they want to hear so much as she tells them what she wants them to hear. She’s been trying to work on toning down the raw honesty, but that just lead to biting sarcasm, which really isn’t much better. ^__^;; A lot of times she’ll just say something without recollecting that she ever did so. Until she hears herself. >__< This has gotten her to many tough spots, as one might imagine. But if there’s something Maemi learned from experience it’s how to tap dance. XD;; Usually her response comes off as “well someone had to say it” or “you’d hear it sooner or later.” She also isn’t stupid or stubborn enough to stand her ground when her mistakes glare at her in her face. She simply apologizes and/or corrects herself and moves on. Really, it’s in the past now and doesn’t matter anymore.
She enjoys being noticed. She enjoys being the center of attention and she really enjoys having people’s affection. But Maemi is the type of person that tries to keep her cool attitude even when stressful times arise, because nothing is less attractive then you being a blubbering ball of problems, and Maemi strives to also be attractive in other people’s eyes. She tries to find new ways to become such and thus relies on other people’s honesty. This is one of the main reasons she aspires to become a model or spokesperson, because the public as a whole sets them to be their standard.
Maemi not only dresses for herself, but for other people as well. She wants to (over)hear people’s comments about how good she looks, or that it really is her color. As mentioned before, she enjoys being noticed and likes the feeling she gets when getting her picture taken, because they are there for her. She also dresses and carries specific things to be noticed. If she spent all this time preparing herself for the world and doesn’t get so much as a glance from anyone, she’s going to be pretty upset. u__u Besides, she’s cute and she knows it. She also tries to customize herself and her uniform as much as Chou Gakuen will allow. XD;; Huge socks, different shoes, fancy barrettes, shiny pins, ect. She also tends to have an estimated 50 gajillion cute little keychains on her school bag, all from egg machines or temples. XD;;
Maemi also tends to see her goal rather than the
speed bumps and sand traps around it. She tends to do whatever it takes to get
her to that goal, consequences be damned. Besides, she can fix them later when
she gets where she wants/needs to be, right? o__o;; When under pressure, sometimes Maemi
gets skeptical. Okay…she always gets skeptical, but doesn’t necessarily tell
everyone. Unfortunately for her, it’s really easy to tell when this particular
emotion arises. Maemi starts to get extremely confidant,
almost dangerously so before she starts to question her own motives. This leads
to hesitation, and Maemi probably hates this as much
as being dishonest. Because whatever decision she makes she always wonders if
it was the right one. o__o;
History:
Maemi was born to a well off and excited couple; Kuri, her mother, a professional chef for a little bistro, and Udo, her father, a pediatrician. And of course, with Udo working with other children, he’d have to show off his own and went picture crazy, as many new parents do. ^__^;; And Maemi loved every minute of it. Time went by, the Ooguchi couple finally got into the swing of parenting and started to tone down the fluff as they realized that having a child isn’t all pretty pictures, lullabies and well behaved infants. XD;; That’s not to say that grandparents didn’t take liberty to oogle their granddaughter whenever they saw fit.
So life went on and Maemi grew to the respectable age of 7. At the age of 7, Maemi started to attend elementary school, began to take piano lessons and gave up her sacred throne of being the only child. That’s right, her little sister Toshi was now brought into Maemi’s bright and beautiful world. That just wasn’t in Maemi’s cards. u__u Though she was elated to have a little sibling to play with, she was not at all happy about being upstaged by and stuck with this smelly, noisy, sticky little brat, as most older siblings believe their little sisters to be. XD;; Maemi would try to have nothing to do with her unless she needed someone to play with, or was assigned to watch her.
Around the age of 10, Maemi noticed something about little Toshi; she wanted to be just like big sister. Well, after putting this into much consideration, Maemi decided that wasn’t a bad deal after all. It’s was actually quite flattering and cute. Maemi then began to take it upon herself to try and raise her little sister how she thought she should be, much to the amusement of her parents. Even today, Toshi is still Maemi’s little model citizen and really looks up to her (even if she’s grown to reach the same height as her older sister. XD;;)
Well, one eventful afternoon during one of her later days of Jr. High, Maemi strolled the streets of
Now that Maemi is in her last year of High School, she’s hoping that her parents might reconsider the whole modeling thing, and is trying little by little to allow her to do so. They’ve let her enter in a few competitions, but so far nothing beneficial has come out of it. ^__^;; So she waits. o__o
Special Skills:
Empathetic: Not so much that she has a sixth sense of determining what someone else is feeling, but she is able to read other people’s body language REALLY well without thinking about it. She also has a sort of uncanny sense that seems to allow her to know what kinds of buttons to push on a person to get the reaction she wants.
Motion Sickness: Maemi doesn’t get carsick. At all. She can read in a car, do cross stitching on a train, write on the subway and sail the seven seas…Nothing can churn her stomach of iron. She also doesn’t get sick too often, and when she does, it’s just a simple cold. She’s what you might call “healthy as a horse.”
Powers: “Star Sensitive Inferno!”
A silvery-shining five pointed star appears in Healer’s palm, twirling around. “Star Sensitive…Inferno!” she shouts, bringing the glowing shape above her head as if winding up, then down sharply to point out from her chest. As soon as her arms stop moving, the palm sized star suddenly shoots into a whole bunch of glowing electric bolts, that striketh teh enemy.
Smack?: Basically it’s a big energy beam broken up into wild and crazy electric-like bolts. Unfortunately this attack goes EVERYWHERE. o__o It’s impossible to get the beams all to hit at one place. It can attack one target, but it usually hits them in several places at once. And that hurts. A lot. That could probably knock some poor unsuspecting soul down for a bit. o__o;; Healer can also take this attack and have it hit multiple enemies. Now they can’t be, say across the room from eachother, but if they’re standing next to eachother, she could probably hit both of them with not much more effort on her part. The more she concentrates on this attack, the more energy she uses and that lowers the amount of times she can effectively use it in a battle without doing some serious damage on herself. So she could probably only perform it a small handful of times unless she tries to specialize her target(s).
Fuku: Oooookiedokie…Let’s see here. Healer’s hair is the same, bangs parted to the side and delicate flip, and she also seems to have her favored white eye shadow on. On her forehead, she has a simple tiara, consisting of a plain golden band with a slightly larger five pointed star placed in the middle. Her ears also adorn similar five pointed star earrings, about the same size. Her choker consists of two lime green bands criss-crossing with yet another five pointed star where they intersect in the front. The sailor collar is a very dark grey, almost black in color, and hangs delicately on her shoulders. Her halter top, the same dark grey, is strapless, but is cut in very much of a bikini style, the grey continuing around the back in a thick strap. A trim of lime green goes around the bottom of the halter, under the breasts and around the back. A broach is set in the middle of the halter; A yellow five pointed star with a pair of white three pointed wings on each side and a pottery clay brown triangle resting under the star. Moving down, Healer also sports a sort of belly chain, matching the criss-crossing choker, the star about an inch above the belly button. Moving further down, we come to a lime green band coming to a v in the front which start off a pair of rather short and poofy dark grey shorts. Over top of the shorts is a skirt made with a gauzy-white fabric cut into the shapes of pointed petals, which just barely go past the length of the shorts. Healer also wears dark grey boots which go up about mid calf, and have a short heel to them. On her arms she wears two dark grey poofs which rests just below her armpits. Also, on each of her wrists and ankles (over her boots) she wears three lime green like bangles. All of Healer’s nails are also painted a pale white color, seeming to match her eye shadow and gauzy skirt.
Phew! >__< Here’s a picture incase you didn’t follow…or you’re just too lazy to read the description. XD;;
Henshin: “Healer Star Power, Make Up!” Maemi shouts her henshin phrase and her entire body goes into that bubbly henshin pattern, in a lime green color. XD;; A glowing star circles her body and pins itself onto her chest, forming her broach. Slowly, the elements of her fuku start fading in and with a twirl to show off her costume, Sailor Star Healer stands, fully dressed…in a manner of speaking. XD;; Her hands behind her head and elbows pointing up while standing sideways, body slightly twisted so she can look at the camera which doesn’t exist. XD;;
RP Experience: Yupyupyup. ^o^
Miscellaneous: The webmistress of Starlight Pops can have my baby. *__* <3 <3 <3
This is also the first girl I’ve apped for since Sailorvata… o__O;;
Give us something, anything, from the character's point of view. This should be written in third person unless you have permission to do otherwise, and day-in-the-life scenes tend to work well. This section is nominally optional, but staff may request a sample from you at any time.
