Mitsuo's long evening

Mitsuo sat opposite Noriko. She looked more pretty to him than ever. It was the very day that he'd decided to open his heart to her. He looked into her eyes, but he couldn't easily say his words, and he turned his eyes away outside the Japanese restaurant. There was a copycat who was acting like Charles Chaplin outside. Noriko looked outside, too. Usually Mitsuo eats like a horse and talks much even at a date with Noriko. But he didn't eat much and was as quiet as a mouse today. Noriko smelled a rat. But she didn't know how his heart hesitated at all. Their fist meeting was on September last year. At that time Mitsuo was pigheaded. He didn't listen to the words of others. Also, he hadn't have any girl friend and he was uncomfortable with talking with girls. One day Mitsuo saw a girl who was trying to find something on the ground at Bay Street when he went home from work. She was Noriko. At once Mitsuo felt something which he'd never felt before. He talked to her against his way, "Can I help you ?". She raised her pretty face and answered, "Oh, thank you. My contact lens just fell". She was as blind as a bat without her contact lens. She was a bookworm, and read books all night in her bed sometimes. That was their first meeting. Then Mitsuo changed. He became an early bird and worked like a dog. He tried to get Noriko's attention and succeeded in many dates with her. One winter passed. Now Noriko was a special person for him. ... He came to himself. Yet he didn't execute any performance. But sometime he should tell her that he loves her. Mitsuo said in his mind, "I'm not chicken !". Finally Mitsuo started to talk turkey...
