Second Album "Next Message": Songs and Comments

It's year 2000 now, and I'm now 30 years old. I've been trying to achieve making an English song, an ENKA song, and a Christmas song on organ. I believe I've done these in this album. I'll make the third album next, anyway. 1. Photo Album (MP3 file) Words, Music and Arranged by Jerry Ota This is the first song I made when I was 21 years old. (3/17/1991) 2. Dream Words, Music and Arranged by Jerry Ota We think dreams are very strange. I realize that after I tell something about my dreams to others. (7/31/1997) 3. Sweetheart in Yokohama Words, Music and Arranged by Jerry Ota ENKA is one of the traditional types of music in Japan. ENKAs are performed well by ENKA singers, who sometimes wear Kimono or Wafuku. This song is my first ENKA while it's not supposed to be sung by such singers. The scene is laid in Yokohama. (1/17/1998) 4. Song for Mr Tanaka Words, Music and Arranged by Jerry Ota I was asked to make this song by Tanaka-kun, a friend in ShinKoyasu Single Men Domitory. I sang this song for him at his wedding party. Many friends left ShinKoyasu Domitory because of marriage, moving or changing a job. I was almost left alone, but I left the domitory because I was transfered to the United States. (3/14/1998) 5. I'm Jerry Ota, '98 -Silicon Valley Version- Words, Music and Arranged by Jerry Ota This song is a sequal of "I'm Ota, '95". Jennifer, my English teacher, kindly corrected English in this song. She said, "So cute!". I thank her for correcting seriously for me. 'Jerry' is my memorial first name used in the United State. I wanted to be called more friendly rather than called 'Ota-san'. (6/7/1998) 6. Song of Implantation (Remix Version) Words by S.Inomoto, Music by Jerry Ota, and Arranged by K.Mabuchi Some friends asked me to remix this song with second chorus and shout. They are in this song now. (9/6/1992) 7. In Tokyo Words, Music and Arranged by Jerry Ota I wanted to make some songs of memory in my student life in Tokyo. When I was 19, the Showa Emperor passed away and the new age 'Heisei' started. The song I sang to myself on Hijiri Bridge, as sung in this song, was 'Lemon' by Masashi Sada. (11/26/1998: Thanksgiving Day in USA) 8. So Disgusting Words, Music and Arranged by Jerry Ota I was shocked by many things right after I started life in USA. They come from cultural difference between Japan and USA. First of all, silence is golden in Japan, and sometimes we can make agreement without words in Japan. But it's not impossible in USA. We should express ourselves in USA. Well, basically people in California are very friendly to forigners, though. And weather is very fine in compare to Japan. I think Americans are very good at making smiles. (12/12/1998) 9. Christmas Eve 23 Years Ago Words, Music and Arranged by Jerry Ota My mom graduated Christian mission school, and she used to sing carols in her thirties. And I used to listen to them in my childhood. The carol 'O come all ye faithful' reminds me of those days. I sang the carol among Americans at Christmas Concert in Stanford University. (3/28/1999) 10. Together With Mr Yamada Words by Sayaka & Natsumi Saeki, Music and Arranged by Jerry Ota The words are made by daughters of my co-worker Saeki-san. It's 'teen sensation' to me. (3/21/1999)
