Misunderstandings

Part 3

by Blue Violet

Trowa sat right near the back of the class where he could get a full view of his beloved Quatre who was sitting near the front of the class beside a redhead.

Right near where Trowa was sitting were a bunch of boys. They were all good-looking but they sure looked wild. From the confident way they talked, Trowa figured that they must be the popular guys at school. And Trowa guessed right.

Trowa soon found out that the leader of the group was a boy called Kevin Meyers. Kevin was very good-looking, Trowa reflected. He was tall and had straight light-brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. But he was very arrogant. Trowa didn't like him one bit by just listening to Kevin talk.

"You know Mike, those those girls from my fanclub keep giving me tonnes of stupid flowers everyday," Kevin was saying. "And what the hell am I supposed to do with them? Put them in crystal vases all over my room?" Kevin snorted. "Flowers are for girls. Real men don't need stuff like that!"

"Then why don't you give the flowers to some other girl?" asked the person called Mike. "It would be too much of a waste to throw them away."

"You just don't get it do you?" said Kevin in an exasperated tone. "I've got a reputation to keep as the most wanted guy in this school. I can't just give some girl a bunch of flowers, can I? That is so uncool. People would think that I'm some kinda sap or something. People would think that I've gotten soft and ready to get tied down to only on girl. That sucks man! Playing the field is so much cooler."

Trowa thought that Kevin was the biggest jerk in the whole wide world. What did Kevin think of himself as? A god?

"There are so many idiots in this world," thought Trowa. "And I can't believe that this guy has his own fanclub! What makes all the girls fall in love with him anyway? He is nothing but a concieted jerk."

"I bet you're getting bored of listening to Kevin's bragging," whispered the boy sitting beside Trowa. He had a friendly face and Trowa liked him immediately. "Never mind, you'll soon get used to it. By the way, I'm Adam Reeds."

"Nice to meet you," said Trowa. "At least not all the guys at this school are total jerks," he thought gratefully.

"I was wondering if you know that new girl. Maybe the both of you went to the same school or something?" asked Adam. "It seems to be a funny coincidence to have two new students in the same day."

"No, I do not know the new girl," answered Trowa. "It's just a coincidence that we came to this school on the same day."

"I think the girl, her name's Katrina I think, is really pretty," said Adam. "I think I have a crush on her - along with every other boy who has seen her today!"

Trowa smiled to himself. "Good thing Quatre really looks like a girl," he thought. "Our mission would go smoothly then."

Trowa was busy staring at Quatre he didn't notice that Adam was asking him a question until Adam started waving his hand in front of his face.

"Hello? Hellooooo? Earth to Trowa Barton!" teased Adam. "I was asking you a question. I bet you didn't hear me."

"I guess my mind sort of wandered off," said Trowa sheepishly. "What was it that you were asking me?"

"I was asking you if you have the hots for Katrina, too. Well, it looks like you have a crush on her, too, by the way you were staring at her."

Trowa felt his face becoming red. How embarrasing it was to be caught staring at his lover with some love-struck look. At least he wasn't droolong or anything. "Yeah, I guess you could say that I have a crush on her, too," admitted Trowa. "She's after all, very pretty."

"If I didn't pretend that I have a crush on Katrina like all the other guys, they might think that I'm weird," thought Trowa. "Of course in reality Katrina is Quatre so I'm not really lying or anything. Except that I'm in love with Quatre and not Katrina even though they both are the same person."

"But I think that if we wanna be Katrina's boyfriend, we should just forget it," Adam was saying sadly. "I'm sure she'll choose somebody like Kevin or his friends. All the girls do. Kevin even has his own fanclub!"

"So what he was saying was true. I thought he was just bragging that he has his own fanclub just because there are many girls who are crazy about him!"

"Hard to believe but it's true," said Adam. "Nearly all of the girls in this school are his fanclub members. They give him presents like, practically every day! I don't understand why they like him though. He may be good-looking but I for one think he is nothing but a creep."

"I think he's a jerk, too," said Trowa. "I don't like him. I think he's arrogant and thinks too highly of himself as if he were a god or a king. Do all the other boys in this school like him?"

Adam turned his head to the left and to the right, as if he were watching out for people who might be eavesdropping on their conversation. "Not really," he said finally. "Even the seniors don't like him. But nobody dares to tell him that or else he'll have his followers bash you to bits. They're a wild bunch I tell you. They have broken every single rule in this school and they drink beer and do whatever it is that they do but the teachers don't do anything! Not even the headmaster."

"Why is that?" asked Trowa. He felt that this school was a bit strange. He could understand that other students might be afraid of bullies like Kevin and his friends but surely the teachers weren't afraid of him, right? They were the ones in charge of this school - not Kevin!

"You wanna know why? Everybody knows why," said Adam. "That's because - "

Suddenly the bell rang, cutting off whatever it was that Adam was about to say. The whole class quickly stood up, gathering all their books and stuff. Adam turned to face Trowa. "What class do you have after this?" he asked. "I have Physics."

Trowa looked at his time-table he had recieved from the headmaster. "I have Chemistry right now."

Adam peered at the card Trowa was holding. "Looks like I won't be meeting you right until lunch break," he commented. "So I'll meet you at lunch OK? I better go now - the Physics teacher is a real terror." Adam walked out of the class with Trowa and gave him a little wave before he walked away towards the opposite direction of where Trowa was going.

"Hey Trowa," said a voice. It was Kevin, walking towards Trowa with a lazy smile on his face. Trowa kept his face expressionless as he waited for Kevin to catch up with him.

"What do you think of this school, huh?" asked Kevin. "Pretty cool. eh?"

"I think it's a nice school," said Trowa, shrugging his shoulders. He wondered what Kevin was getting at. And he wondered where Kevin's followers were.

"OK, I'll just get straight to the point," said Kevin. "I was observing you in class just now and I think you're pretty cool, not like most of the losers in this school. So I'm inviting you to join my gang. You should be honoured. Only the coolest guys get to join my gang and get to be my friend."

"Friend? Follower, you mean," said Trowa silently. "As if I want to join your group and get to know you."

"So, you're gonna join us, right?" prodded Kevin.

"I don't know," said Trowa slowly. "It's my first day here and I don't know anything about you or your gang."

"You'll get to know us once you're with us," said Kevin. "Let me tell you a bit about us then. We're like the jocks of the school. We're the in crowd. We're wildly popular and all the girls like us. And we get to do stuff. We get to smoke, drink and sleep with girls. That's the best part. You get to sleep with any girl you like and it's easy. They'll do just about anything for you if you're with us."

"Wait a minute. Don't you ever get caught for doing all those stuff you mentioned?" asked Trowa. "Won't the teachers kick you out of school for doing all those stuff?"

Kevin smirked. "I can do anything here. If you're related to people with power, everything's easy as pie."

Trowa wondered if Kevin's father owned the whole school or something that would allow him to be able to get his own way in this school. "I don't know. I think I'd have to think about it," he told Kevin.

"Well think about it then," said Kevin, grinning confidently. He was confident that someone like Trowa would surely accept his invitation. "You have all the time in the world. Catch you later then." Kevin spun on his heel and went away to his next class.

Trowa walked hurriedly to his Chemistry class. He hoped that he wasn't late. He didn't want to get a scolding on his first day here. And he certainly didn't want to get a detention. If he did, he wouldn't have much time to spend on the mission.

Trowa went into his next class. The teacher wasn't in yet. Trowa heaved a sigh of relief. He scanned the classroom for an empty seat. Everybody was sitting in groups of six. The only empty seat he was was at a table full of girls. He felt embarrased about sitting with a bunch of girls but he sat with them anyway.

Quatre was in the same room. He and Trowa had all the same classes together. Trowa noticed that Quatre was sitting beside the redhead from their first class and they were talking animatedly with each other and with the other girls at their table.

"Quatre sure makes friends easily," he thought. He felt awkward sitting with five other girls at his table. They were whispering with each other and he felt that they were whispering about him. Trowa felt uncomfortable but kept his face expressionless as always.

"Your name is Trowa isn't it?" one of the girls asked suddenly. She was blonde and had blue eyes and was pretty. "But not as pretty as my Quatre," thought Trowa with pride.

"Yes, I'm Trowa Barton," he replied politely.

"We were wondering if you would like to have lunch with us," said the girl next to the blonde shyly. "We would like to know more about yourself."

"I'm sorry, but I promised Adam Reeds that I'll be meeting him for lunch," he said, giving the girls an apologetic smile. "Maybe next time?" he asked.

The girls agreed that they'll ask him to lunch some other time but Trowa noticed the dissapointed looks on their faces when he told them that he couldn't have lunch with them. "Quatre would be awfully jealous if I spend my time with the girls here," he mused. "I'd like to see him jealous for once, though. I kind of like it when Quatre gets all possesive."

Trowa noticed out of the corner of his eye that Quatre was stealing glances at him. He pretended not to notice. Instead, he joined the girls at his table in their conversation. He sneaked a peek at Quatre. He was still staring at him. He noticed that Quatre looked a bit jealous.

Suddenly, the Chemistry teacher came in and Quatre stopped staring at Trowa. Trowa and the girls stopped talking as the teacher gave a lecture and gave them some work to do.

While they were all quietly doing their work, Trowa noticed that Quatre kept stealing looks at him every few minutes. "Probably keeping an eye on me to see that I don't flirt with these girls," he thought wryly. "He doesn't have to worry about that. The only person I would rather flirt with is him. But I'll let him be a bit jealous just to tease him."

The blonde at his table didn't understand some things and Trowa had to explain some things to her. The girl didn't understand a lot of things so Trowa had to explain quite a lot. And all the while, Quatre was watching him.

At last the bell rang, ending their second class. Trowa got his stuff and went out of the lab. Then he went to his next class.

After that, Quatre stopped sneaking glances at him in all the next classes they had together. Instead, he went on chatting with the redheaded girl who seemed to be good friends with him all ready. Trowa wondered if Quatre was trying to make him jealous by talking to the redhead. Either way, Trowa didn't think it was working. After all, Quatre was in the guise if a girl so he couldn't possibly flirt with the other girls, right? And of course, the other girls wouldn't be flirting with Quatre so he had nothing to be jealous of.

After a few hours, it was time for lunch and everyone headed out towards the school's dining hall. Quatre was walking with the redhead and a bunch of other girls and he ignored Trowa as he chatted with his new friends.

"Looks like he's mad at me," thought Trowa as he searched for a place to sit.

Waaahhh!!! Gomen minna-san. You must've thought that Part 3 was really stupid, wasn't it? It's all right. I thought that it sucked, too. But I've been getting so many feedback from people telling me to continue this story so I had to continue it one way or another. I didn't know what to write so I just wrote anything that came to my mind (that's why this story sucks) after banging my head against the wall each time to get an idea. The thing is, I know exactly how I want the story to be but the problem is when it comes to writing it. It's a very hard thing and my head hurts from banging it against the wall too much. If you think that this story sucked or even if you liked it, please tell me! It would be better if you could give me some ideas, though... You know where to send them. Send it all to blue_violet@gundamwing.org. Thanks.
