My emotions are just so boggled inside,
if everyone only knew.
But I no longer care to keep them a secret,
if you let me, I'll share them with you.
My smiles are a lie, you know,
each one is carefully placed.
They mask the feelings I have inside,
keeping the frowns from my face.
These feelings inside me, Heero,
seem too much every now and then.
How would you react if I told you now,
I want you as more than a friend?
You'd probably just sneer and push me away,
you're disgusted with all that I do.
But know this, I'll follow you faithfully,
cause, Heero, ai shiteru.

Duo stared at the letter he had just written. What was he thinking? He
threw the pen across the room and began to pace.
Good idea, Duo. Write a letter to a very homicidal Heero Yuy professing
your undying love.
Duo paused. He had worn the carpet down so badly that small ruts could
be seen. What WAS I thinking?
A slight smile formed on his lips.
"I always was one to go for the direct approach."
He swiftly picked up the letter and exited the room. Padding down the
hallway, he stopped in front of Heero's room and pushed the door open. Heero
lay asleep inside, breathing even and low.
He looks so peaceful when he's not killing anything. Duo thought with a
smirk. He quietly slipped over to the laptop, Heero's pride and joy, and set
the letter beside it.
There's no turning back now.
He exited the room just as quickly as he came and didn't stop until he
was once again in the safety of his own room. Closing the door behind him
softly, Duo leaned against it for support. His legs suddenly felt too weak
to hold him upright What have I done?
*******
Heero patiently waited for Duo to leave before opening his eyes.
What was that braided baka doing in his room anyway?
You’d probably just sneer and push me away,
you’re disgusted with all that I do.
But know this, I’ll follow you faithfully,‘cause, Heero, ai shiteru.

His eyes quickly scanned the room for anything out of place. He saw it
next to his laptop.
Heero quietly rose from his bed and sat down at the desk before reading
over the letter. He sat there for awhile as he contemplated the situation.
Slowly he reached for a pen.*******
Duo yawned sleepily and opened his eyes. Sunlight poured in through the
window, lingering warmth on his face.
Reluctantly, he rose from his bed, pausing at the mirror to straiten his
pajamas, before quietly exiting the room. He softly padded down the hall to
Heero’s room.
"I’ll just peek in and see how he is," Duo said happily to himself as the
door came into view.
Taking a final deep breath, he slowly turned the knob and pushed the door
open a crack. He looked in and immediately frowned. "He’s not in there."
No longer shy in his partner’s absence, Duo opened the door fully and
entered.
Where could he be? The braided boy wondered before a flashing laptop
screen caught his attention. He quickly walked over to Heero’s desk and sat
down to examine the computer message. "It’s a mission," Duo glumly noted.
He left on a mission.
Duo leaned back in the chair and pondered the situation, letting his gaze
wander about the room. Huh? What’s that?
A piece of paper, taped to the door, had interrupted his daydreams. He
swiftly rose and approached it, pulling it loose.
It has writing on it. He absently noted. Then…
"It’s my letter to Heero! So he DID read it then."
His eyes scanned the familiar poem running over each word. But there was
more this time. Lines written in an unfamiliar scrawl.
Your smile brightens the world around me,it’s easy for you it seems.
But me, I hide my emotions within, shutting out my hopes and dreams.
Can a soldier really learn to love?learn to feel and care?
My heart is so cold, like freezing rain, can there really be life in there?
You have a warmth I’ve never known, while I’m as cold as steel.
But, I want to tell you desperately, how I really feel.
And although I find it hard to say,my words stumble when I’m around you.
This letter makes it easier somehow,Duo, I love you, too…
~Heero~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Duo’s eyes widened as he read, finally pausing on the last line. He
wavered, sinking to the carpeted floor clutching the paper to his chest.
"Heero." The name came unbidden from his lips. An involuntary reaction
to the emotions coursing through him.
